I was using almond milk but its kind of pricey. Someone told me soy milk can cause cancer so I don't wanna drink that. I want to cut calories as much as possible so maybe I'll just suck it up and stick to almond milk. How many calories should I be consuming at 5 weeks? I know everyone is different but I feel like I eat too much.

My RD said to focus more on Protein than calories the first couple of months, but on average she said most people are getting about 600 calories during this time.

Ditto. My RD has me at 700-800 calories and 80-100 grams of protein per day. I'm almost 8 weeks out.

Are you still losing? I get 600-1000 cal a day (usually 800), 63-70 protein and 64-80 ounces if Water and only lose 1-2 pounds a week. The first 2 weeks lost 12 pounds. I am in week 5 and still only 1-2 pounds a week for weeks :( I see my doctor next week but feel like I am doing something wrong. Not sure if I should cut out more calories or add a little more. It is confusing..

I like this recipe my nut gave me: 1 cup part skim ricotta add grated lemon peel, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 Splenda packet. Mix it up and separate into 2 portions. I like this as a dessert. Good Protein. I do like the eggface site. She has awesome recipes and she also recommends the SF Torani syrups which I hope to try soon. Maybe you could use the syrups with plain Greek yogurt to make it more appealing. ;-)

A few weeks back I hit a pretty big stall, then started losing inches, now I'm losing pounds again, but it's slow as well; however I feel this is my fault in a way. I've had the upper respiratory junk twice since surgery and its lasted almost 2weeks both times. I haven't been doing the exercise part like I should. Until now, I also haven't been tracking my calorie intake like I should. I plan to change all of that and be more structured. Hopefully I'll start losing better now especially since I feel so much better. And yes I agree, it's confusing and frustrating at times. Good luck!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
