The biggest issue I am having is all the pre-test that are being done. Each one has to be approved by my insurance. I would prefer to have things move quicker as the process will take almost six months. I am so afraid I will back out by then.

I know it's frustrating, but if you really will back out in six months time, you're probably not ready for the surgery :( if you are ready, you'll be even more ready in six months :)

It took me so long to get to this point. My doctor recommended it over a year ago. I have about 5 different test and a sleep study Monday and Tuesday and I am so worried they will find a reason not to so it.

6 months is a very normal amount of time to wait for this surgery, most insurance company's want you to have 6 months of nut visits, plus all the testing is to make the surgery safer, my blood test found a clotting problem that is easy for them to handle now that they know about it but would have been very dangerous if it was not known about ,It also probably was the reason I had a bunch of miscarriages 30 years ago,It was not known about then,my surgeon requires a stress test , sleep study , blood work, requires you to loss 10-12% of extra weight before surgery , this is a long processes, It takes a lifetime to complete, do it right

people that work to get the surgery , usually do better with there weight loss , than people that just pay a doctor that will take you in next week, without tests, some have no pre op diets , the best surgeons have all the testing done , so ,its safer

I too have to wait the 6 months. When I jumped in, I dived in full force and about ran myself ragged the first month getting almost every test under the sun done. There was no reason to move as fast as I did, I was just so excited. I have slowed down a bit. I still have a follow up sleep study, EKG, blood draw, and upper GI to get done but I haven't set any of the appointments, but the sleep study. I will be getting them done in the next month, in case there is something I need to follow up with, but I have really taken this time to obsessively read this forum, I search for topics of interest and go back a couple years to get other perspectives.

I have read my surgeon required book "The Expert's guide to weight loss surgery" By: Garth Davis

I have also researched and read: "Successful Weight Loss with the Gastric Sleeve" By: Guillermo Alvarez

and "Stranger Here, How weight loss surgery transformed my body and messed with my head" By: Jen Larsen

I also have watched three of the four parts of the documentary "The weight of the nation" by HBO http://theweightofthenation.hbo.com/

I also keep myself busy with FB groups dealing with weight loss surgery

It is important to me that the day I step into surgery that I have lost at least 30 to 40 lbs. My surgeon is requiring 5lbs, but the more you loose, the lower your BMI the safer the surgery is. I want to make sure that the day I walk into surgery that I have left no stone unturned, that I have researched it all, I have read it all and that I am ready for what is to come. The wait is hard, but I am in shock that I am already 1/3 of the way into the wait. It is flying.

no matter what I do my weight slowly inclines or stays the same..otherwise I would lose 20-30 pounds just to lower my BMI for surgery

Thank you OkSleever, MicketMantle, Macy6 and Ashlie Marie. It is good to hear support from you. I will try to remember all the running around is for my own good.

I guess I am being impatient because I want to be able to run around with me granddaughter this summer and it just will not happen. I just wish I was ready sooner.

I m lucky that my doctor's office is making all my appointments for me. I started in January and I am now hoping to have the surgery in July right after my birthday.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
