Wow, thank you everyone, what a wealth of information, I'm going for a walk now and keeping the Water with me... I can't thank you guys enough for helping me, my eyes are actually welling up typing about it, I'm really really thankful... This is really difficult but really empowering at the same time...

Thank you for helping me through this all of you..

Right, I have work to do!!

I had surgery on Tuesday morning, 26 Mar, released Wednesday after lunch, 27 Mar. Went back to work 1/2 day today, Thursday 28 Mar. I drank Crystal Light with unflavored protein powder this morning for breakfast and sipped water the rest of the day. I got almost 30 oz of water down which includes the Crystal Light. I drank a chocolate whey protein drink with water this afternoon. I had a massive hiatal hernia my surgeon fixed while he was performing the sleeve. I think that is why heavier liquids aren't going down very well for me just yet. Tried a homemade Rootbeer float recipe from the full liquid recipe suggestions, but it didn't go down very well. I didn't gag or throw up, but the liquid did get stuck and I had to walk and take deep breaths. The gas pains across my shoulders are gone and I am actually passing gas today (yeah!) Still some stomach cramps when drinking water and I tried pre-packaged sugar free jello that made my stomach cramp, but tolerable. Going to get some more unflavored protein powder. It's the best with Raspberry Crystal Light. The hospital gave me a velcro girdle to wear home...what a great device to keep everything tight and stable. Only took pain meds once today. Got on the scale yesterday and was up 9 pounds. Haven't weighed today, but still gassy. Maybe this weekend. Incisions are healing nicely, no leaking. Started a gummi multi vitamin and chewable calcium. Thanks Dr. Cottam and the nurses at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, Salt Lake City, Utah for taking such good care of me. More to follow! Christi

Every day gets a little better. Hang in there!

Did anyone retain a ton of water? My legs are really swollen as well as my iv hand. One legs is more swollen. It doesn't hurt and isn't red but I'm just concerned. I have a call into the doc. I might just head to er to be safe

Yikes colemon70, better to have it checked out.

Coleman70 ~ I haven't had my surgery yet but I did have surgery once where the iv needle poked through my vein. Which caused a lot of swelling because all that fluid went into my body and not into my vein. I'd still call and ask though!

Omg that. Sounds horrible. When are you due to have sleeve?
