I was told I had lupus antigen and that increased the chance of a clot during surgery about 5%

but can't find any info about it with the sleeve, doctor said it could be treated with blood thinners during surgery and for a month after and ultra sounds of my legs while in the hospital

any body else have this problem

i developed blood clots and they said it had to do with a lupus trait - i dont have lupus but ido have rheumatoid arthritis. i hope & pray everything works out for you since you know this going in. i didnt find out about mine until after the surgery - when i got dehydrated and was admitted into the hospital.

Lupus and RA are very closely related. They are both auto immune disorders.

i don't have lupus I have lupus anti gen it is a clotting disorder, that is genetic if you have lupus you will test positive for lupus anti gen but if you test positive it dos not mean you have lupus, lupus antigen can also cause miscarriages if untreated to bad they did not know about this 30 years ago, when I could have been treated with baby aspirin and not had a bunch of unexplained miscarriages

I have lupus, and had serious post-surgical blood clots many years ago. If your surgeon knows about your disorder, he/she will take extra care and will give you meds to prevent clotting during and after surgery. I received anti-clotting injections while in the hospital - as did most of the other bariatric surgery patients. And, of course, I did lots and lots of walking as soon as I could... because exercising those leg muscles is one of the best things you can do to prevent a blood clot.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
