I am 5ft 2 and day of surgery was 284. Today I am 18 days post op and only down 11 pounds. Everyone is different I was told. My doctor also told me not to weigh myself too often. He said once a week. He explained Water weight, and just different times of day can be a 3-4 pound difference and will make me go insane. He knows me VERY well :)

I eat shake for Breakfast 20 Protein, 1/2 cup Soup for lunch 3 Protein, shake for snack 20 protein, 1 cup Soup for dinner 10 protein, and 1/2 shake before bed so 10 more protein. I was told to eat eat every 3-4 hours and when feel hibgry between meals just drink more Water it should pass. 99.9% of the time it does. If it doesn't I grab 1/2 a pudding of more soup.

I take some Vitamins each time I eat-never all at once. It helps your body absorb them better and wont leave you feeling sick.

In between each meal I drink water and get 70-80 oz in daily. I get at least 63 protein in daily. I today was told I can started puréed foods and have added in refried Beans and a little cheese. So freaking good and has 9 protein in it too.

My doctor and nutritionist have been a blessing. They keep in touch and at every appointment go over my food journals as well as my Vitamin sheet to make sure I am getting everything I need. They also do blood work every 2-6 weeks to make sure I am right on par and if I am lacking something they can add it in. I am very lucky to have them :) being a nurse I know a lot already but these people put me to shame.

My best advice is do not eat the next stage early unless your doctor gives the ok and just try not to watch the scale too closely. You have plenty of time to lose the weight and like a pot boiling watching it makes it 10 times worse.

I am one week post op today the routine I am building is this

Sip Vitamin Water upon waking

Drink a Protein shake for Breakfast

Take Vitamins about 30 mins after finishing shake

For lunch chicken broth with unflavored Protein

Around 5pm take my first dose of Calcium

dinner either more broth or Protein Shake

After dinner the last of my Calcium

In between the 3 "meals" I sip on sf drinks, have a Jello, a little nonfat milk, or have a sf Popsicle. Somewhere in there I take my B12 and prescription meds

I walk for atleast 7 minutes 3x a day I will build the time up over the weeks

I'm down 13lbs this first week and this routine works for me. I haven't been really measuring how much of liquid I get in but I estimate I get about 30g of protein a day. The trick is finding what works for you. Best of luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
