4 days post op and clear liquids?

Recommended Posts

Is there any danger early after surgery of drinking too much Clear Liquids at a time? I'm 4 days post op and can drink quite a bit of clear liquids in one sitting without any trouble or pain. Mind you I sip it all but I'm wondering if I can problems with my sleeve by drinking too much at this point

As long as you are sipping and not gulping it won't be much of a problem. The liquid doesn't stay in your stomach at this stage it more or less moves on through. As you heal, you'll start feeling the restriction more.

I don't feel much restriction with the clear liquids but I'm not concerned as they go through you fairly quick. When I start to feel hunger if chicken broth or a Popsicle doesn't settle it I take the antacid my dr gave and that works

I am 9 days out, and had my first follow-up with my surgeon at six days out where I asked the same question. I was able to drink a lot at one time, especially on an empty stomach. He advised me that we really cannot rely on our new stomachs at this stage to tell us when we are full, and some people do not get the same "full" feeling as others, so it is best to stick with a timed regiment of drinking. He recommended an ounce of Water every five minutes. I found a free timer app on my phone, so I just use that and take a drink every 5 minutes. Seems to be working so far, though it is still hard to get all the fluids in!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
