I took my two kids and family to a city fair and was told by the employee I was too heavy or big to ride as the safety strap would not close. I am 30 mother of two girls and been in a relationship for 13 years, never thought I would be so embarrassed. I am 5' 4" & 269lbs this has never happened. I can not wait Abby longer for my surgery to come so I can live life. How can you all relate.

2 summers ago my friend paid for me to go to an amusement park with her and another friend. The first ride we went on. We waited in line for 2 hours to find out my safety strap wouldn't close. I was kicked off. I waited for my friends to get off of the ride, I was so embarrassed I refused to go on any other rides that day. So I basically sat on benches all day waiting for hours for my friends to go through lines and ride rides. Ended up crying almost all the way home, which was 4 hr drive.

I haven't been to an amusement park since but when I hit my goal weight I am going back to ride that ride I couldn't. I'll still be scared I won't fit just because how embarrassed I was. But I'm sure I'll fit

It's happened to me too. I even went to Orlando where they have a few seats on the rides for big people and I was STILL too big! Not anymore I can sit comfortably in an airplane seat, use the belt (no extender) and I believe I am under the weight limit to use the slides in Water parks, so I am looking forward to summer. Of course I am going to look very, uh, interesting in a bathing suit, but who cares?

That was one of my nsv's.....being able to get on all of the amusement park rides. There were many rides I couldn't go on because of weight. I am a year and 7 months post op....and now I can ride everything! This too shall pass, soon you will be able to fit on anything you want. Sorry this happened to you...but it will be such a relief when you are able to not worry about if you can fit or not! good luck!

That's will be a major Nvs for me also! My kids so want me to participate in dollywood and splash country with them , but I'm a bench warmer. Not for long!!!!!!!!!

A few years (and forty pounds ago) we went to an amusement park in Texas. My friend convinced me to go on a ride that I would never normally go on (I love roller coasters and didn't walk in expecting to have any issues but this particular ride was not my cup of tea) It was two long rows, maybe 15 people a row and they came up and made me move all the way to the other end of the row (because the seats were a little bit bigger) I was mortified but sucked it up because I was more mortified to get off the ride. I refused to go on any other rides, until later in the day my friend made me try the seats they have outside the ride. I found that I did fit in the extended sized seats and did go on more during the day. It has stuck with me and I have not tried to get on a ride since. I graduate from college in December and walk in my commencement next May. My graduation is 4 hours away and I want to take my family and friends who come up to an amusement park while we are there. With an anticipated surgery date being mid summer, I will have a good 9-10 months of loss before graduation! I am thrilled to see the changes!

Went to our county fair a couple years ago and I couldn't get out of the Scrambler ride. I was so incredibly embarrassed as the guy running the ride had to help me get out. Everyone was staring as I exited, because I was the last one out. Needless to say, I didn't get on anything else and just watched my daughter have a good time.

I was going on a kiddie choo-choo train ride with my 1 1/2 year old and got stuck with him in my arms getting off and almost FELL. I went home and cried in the car ride home from being MORTIFIED. That day I looked into this surgery. I hope and pray to God it's the answer to my weight issues once and for all.

My kids and I go to Water Country in New Hampshire every year. Each year, I'm probably at least 15-20 pounds heavier than the year before. I've always tried not to be too self-conscious about how I look while waddling around in a skirted bathing suit (and probably blinding people with my fishbelly-white skin, LOL) but last year took the prize. At one of the water slides, after climbing three or four stories up a winding staircase, lugging my inner tube, it was finally my turn to plop the tube down, sit in it and go.

The pre-slide pool area is about calf-deep, and you have to keep one foot on the ground to keep from floating down the chute before the ride attendant gives you the "go" signal. I waited patiently, got the signal and lifted my foot. Everyone else who did this maneuver went gliding off down the chute...not me! I picked up my foot, and my butt went straight to the bottom of the waiting-area pool. I was anchored. Run aground worse than the Titanic. No amount of wriggling or jiggling could get me to float forward. The more I shimmied, the more wedged into the tube my tuchus became.

My mortification was completed when the attendant rolled his teenaged eyeballs, strode across the pool and grabbed the handle of my tube. With a loud grunt, he yanked me to the chute and shoved the tube so that I could stop holding up the line.

I'd like to be able to sit in a water-park tube without feeling like that, ever again. Maybe not this summer, since I'll be sleeved in July--but DEFINITELY next year!

I live in Orlando FL near Disney, Universal Studios, and Sea World. I practically grew up riding roller coasters here. My most embarrassing moment was about 3 or 4 years ago when I went to Busch Gardens Tampa and couldn't get on one of the rides. I was with my sister and guy friend who I was crushing on at the time. I knew I had to do something about my weight if I wanted to go do the fun and adventurous things I wanted to do. I only learned about bariatric surgery this year and I'm currently pre-op with Dr. Kim at Celebration Hospital (no surgery date yet). I'm 23 now and plan on going sky diving when I reach my goal weight or for my 25th birthday (whichever comes first).

I totally can relate. Not too long ago, my job had an "Event at the Lake" & I was so excited about the Zip Line. I waited in line in the heat & sweating just to get to the front of the line & the harness would not fit around my waist. Everyone in the line looked. That gave me so much more determination & I felt like I needed to "fight for it" even harder. Hang in there. It's hard to experience things like that, but it makes us stronger. This reason is why I decided to have wls. I went with some coworkers to an amusement park. Growing up I lived roller costers, this was a no brainier... But I did not fit... I tried several rides and was asked to get out if line... In less than two weeks ill be sleeved and then next summer... I'm going back!!

I live close to Cedar Point in Ohio and a few years ago I waited in line for about 1 1/2 hrs to go on a roller coaster with my husband and kids. Wouldn't you know that I couldn't get bucked in. My worst fear was happening so I ran out of the gates before my family or the ride operator even noticed. I just sat on a bench and willed myself not to cry while I waited for them. I can't wait until I can ride EVERY ride in ANY amusement park!

It may sound odd, but reading all of your comments made me feel so much better. Years ago I was at Six Flags two separate times and was kicked off Raging Bull. It has stuck with me for years. I was just sleeved on May 9th and down 50 pounds. One of my ultimate goals is to get down so I can go ride that stupid F'n ride finally!
