  1. My wife was sleeved almost a month ago, and totally lactose intolerant. From what I hear it is vet common, especially with women. But, I have also heard that it can go away over time.

kicked off of a fair ride....

It may sound odd, but reading all of your comments made me feel so much better. Years ago I was at Six Flags two separate times and was kicked off Raging Bull. It has stuck with me for years. I was just sleeved on May 9th and down 50 pounds. One of my ultimate goals is to get down so I can go ride that stupid F'n ride finally! Thank you everyone for your stories!!

    Dehydration!

I am in Phoenix,AZ for a conference. This morning I had a golf outing, but made sure to be drinking water and Gatorade non-stop. Now all of a sudden I feel really blah. I am worried I may be dehydrated, and trying to get some more Gatorade in. I am just curious if any AZ people out there can share some tips on staying hydrated in such a brutally dry climate. Because what ever I am doing it obviously not working!

    Dehydration!

I have been on H2O all day. The Gatorade seems to finally be helping. I will have to try the big glass early in the am. I just can not believe how much more sensitive I am to this dry climate post surgery.

    Travel and the sleeve

It is 100% about planning ahead. I made sure I had my surgery far enough out so my first conference was after I was moved to soft solids. From there it was just checking what the hotel restaurants had and planning accordingly. Hit me up if you have more questions. I travel a ton and found some great tricks.
  6. So life for me is 100% back to normal. food is never easy, but hey that is life. I am actually in sales as well, and funny enough have 2 conferences over the next 2 weeks. The best advise I can give is to be patient with your food. I will admit I have jumped ahead a little to give myself more options while traveling, but very cautiously. Right now I should be purée only, but I yesterday I started to add in crab sticks. So far so good, and for me these are easy to come by from Lunds. For travel if in a jam always remember chili and Soup is always a sure bet. I also eat a bunch (is 2-3 tbl spoons is a bunch...LOL!) of avocado and cottage cheese is well in a jam. Where in MN do you live? If you are near the west suburbs maybe we could meet up and chat. It would be great to meet another person on their journey.

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

354 was the number as of May 9th. Today I am proud to say I am already at 323.4! There are a lot of us who got pretty high before starting out journeys. Best of luck as you begin yours.
  8. Have you ever used vanilla extract when you bake? That is one of a ton of baking extracts. Check out this link: http://www.olivenation.com/Extracts-culinary-C55.aspx?gclid=CIzWvpvtmrcCFaYWMgodKFMArA I have ordered from there a few time. You can also find a bunch at your grocery store or any spice or co-op. In a nut shell it is EXTREMELY concentrated version of the flavor, so remember a little dab will do you! LOL!
  9. Just got back down to 329.4 pounds! Feels so good to break out to the 330's. I know I still have a long road, but 7 days post-op and 24.6 pounds down, had to share this exciting milestone!

    Hit My Fist Goal!

Lol got to love auto correct on iPhone!!
  11. Don't be to hard on your self. One trick my nurse told me was to use baking extracts to give variety to the shakes. That helped me out a ton!! So what I do is add Almond or Pineapple & Coconut (Can you say Pina Colada!!) extract to the Vanilla Premier, makes it really good. Hope that helps you out! You are almost to Puree, then easy street.
  12. So here is what mine looks like: 1 week Clear liquids 2 weeks full liquids 1 week puree Then onto soft foods!
  13. Just got moved to full liquids today!!!! Can not wait to have some cream soup, yogurt, and oatmeal :-)
  14. Good Luck Everyone!! Remember Pain medicine is your friend!!! LOL!
  15. I did mine at Methodist as well. Who was your surgeon? I had Dr. Jones do mine on May 9th, he was awesome.
  16. My surgery was May 9th. I really have felt great till today. I was walking about 1.5 miles a day and getting in plenty of fluids. I think for me it was trying to sleep in my bed laying flat. Today has been a little rough, back on the pain meds unfortunately! Back to my comfy couch tonight, so hopefully I can get back to waking tomorrow!

    7 days post op!

Congrats everyone on your amazing progress. I had my procedure on May 9th, so I am just hitting 6 days post op and down 20.2 pounds. Averaging about 3-4 pounds a day.
  18. So I had a total brain fart and curious how bad I screwed up. I was feeding my daughter steak and she gave me the smallest bite known to man kind and I ate it not even thinking. I am only 5 days post op from the Vertical Sleeve, just making sure I am going to be okay. Anyone else ever do this? FYI - I feel okay, and it was seriously small. Just not sure how my digestive track will deal.
  19. I have always been a very warm guy, but since surgery I get cold so easily. I know I am not anemic or running a fever. Just curious if any other guys experienced this?

    3 days Post-Op & Cold

Lady's I feel bad for all of you. I am a 30 year old 330 pound guy and last night had to sleep with three extra blankets and the fire place going all night. Oh and the heat was set at 71...LOL! Good luck staying warm!
