I won't lie about it - I wouldn't even if I was more inclined to be secretive because' date=' well, I don't lie well <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> My husband laughs because even fibbing for a happy surprise is sometimes tough for me!

In my case, I simply don't choose to share all the details with everyone who asks, much the same as when I had a hysterectomy. If someone asks out of genuine interest or because they are looking to solve their own struggles I may choose to share more details. Otherwise, it is not lying to say I'm on a high Protein diet, I've reduced my portion size, and I'm working on getting more exercise. This will be the absolute truth, without sharing my private business more than I wish to.

At this point the ones I care about and wish to be aware either know or will know soon that I'm planning to do this.

Privacy, people! We're still entitled to it if we choose to have it. Just because someone asks a question does NOT mean we have to answer.

This is just my opinion, of course, and you are equally within your rights to tell everyone you meet if that's what you want. Just don't assume that all who choose to keep it quiet are automatically afraid. Some of us just prefer to keep what we perceive as personal to ourselves.[/quote']

Totally respect this !!!!! Like like like !!!!

My idea of "bullying" is not what OP did. She presented her viewpoint. She pointed out the problems with lying. Bullying is forcing. She is not forcing.

I would call the flack she is getting from folks bullying.

Invariably' date=' people who accuse others of "judging" are condeming themselves even as they do it. Folks that preach tolerance often have none to give to those who disagree with them.

Why don't you all just leave her alone?

Pile on me, I don't sweat you.

It's just a freakin' forum.[/quote']

Awwww I love you !!!! U are frickin great !!! Thanks buddy I didn't mean to sound judgmental I love my friend even If she wants to put up a front ! I wish there was more people like you on this forum ! Much Appreciated !!!

Sometimes I don't tell people just because I'm not really in the mood to explain VSG to them at the moment. I'm ok with answering questions and reassuring people I won't die from malabsorption etc. but occasionally I'm just not down to answer all of their questions.

I agree 100% I tell everyone that asks and most people do.... By the way a few people are having VSG bc of me! So it's worth telling!

Love the long re-post about telling some that you are on a high Protein diet which is true... I'm an open book but I do get that some people aren't and that's ok too :)

Exactly my point so worth telling ... That's why I didn't understand why some one would want to hide it!! And yes it is okay if they choose too! Gee shhhhh! Touchy subject for some , because they choose to hide it !! More power to them ! Just not my cup of tea ! I'd rather be straight forward .

I'm not hiding anything and you really need to watch the way you word things or once again people are going to take offense. Obviously, because just a few agree with you it's ok to continue to make judgement.. Once again? Enough already.

*shakes head.. And sighs!*

Sorry but I disagree. The OP stated that she told her friend to her face to (for what in her opinion are lies.) "to stop the lies". What do you call that? The reason people were getting worked up was because over and over again she kept saying her friend was lying and everyone knew it. When, In fact, her friend was just choosing to keep things private. There is a big difference. Whenever anyone would try to give another point of view she kept going back to yeah, but "I" think she should stop lying, everyone knows she's lying and she was embarrassed for her.

people who choose to share this information with everyone do so because it is their choice and theirs to share and know it's right for them. That is great for them and I respect it. I get ticked off when a few of them turnaround and call those who choose to keep their private life private, liars, ashamed, and such. Yeah I have even been told on this site that "if I want to go around lying" that's ok. Same person said I was "living a fake life" because I have the audacity to choose to keep my life private. I am not lying when I decide to keep my live private about anything in my life and neither is anyone else who chooses the same. Can't help but think those are the most insecure of all.

Why can't those few who love to throw those words around just respect a different point of view and leave it at that?

Is it really so hard?

Point: How many threads have been started by people who start with the "Why lie", Lying about WLS, etc... all using the lie word.

I've seen more than I care to in here.

Now how many threads have you seen started by I am keeping my life private! I just don't understand why people would go around with blabbing everything about them?

Haven't seen a one yet.

I am with you. I tell who ever ask also. I feel I took charge of my life and if anyone has a problem with that I am sorry.

Nothing for you to be sorry about. You are doing what is best for you. It's that simple.

D@#% newat52...Niiiiiicccccce! I don't mind telling some ppl but everyone else can kick rocks. I don't ask ppl how they can afford the car they are driving or house they are living in. I take offense to most ppl that pry.

This lady asked me years ago while I was grocery shopping how much I made, I told her " oh, around the average most ppl make who work for my company". Shut her down! I don't know you and we aren't friends. I owe you nothing.

If it was just keeping private that would be a whole different story . I'm talking about when people state certain facts how they list weight in which is not true at all !! Private is fine and I is to each his own , which I would respect to the fullest. But when people lie and say they bust there ass everyday at the gym by losing the weight . That's what I'm talking about . Honestly people can lie until their blue in the face for all I care . All I was asking in the first place before it got twisted out of context , was why lie ??? Plain and simple . More power to people ,( once again )....if they want to keep private !!!! Read all the posts before judging !!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
