I was just wondering how long it took everyone (on average) to feel "back to normal" energy and pain wise. I am looking to get sleeved in April or May (havent set the date yet but its coming close). The issue is, is that I am a photographer and I have a 6 hour wedding that I will be shooting in late June. I was wondering what you guys think....will I be able to do this?! I also have 2 weddings in july and another in september, so I have to have the surgery soon or I will need to wait a while.

Thanks!

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post, and have felt pretty much back to normal for almost a week already. Everyone's different, but I would think if you're being sleeved in April or May, you should be fine for late June, barring complications.

You will be fine pain wise within 1-2 weeks.but very tired for the first month month and half. That was my experience anyway. Main thing is get your Protein in,vitamins...stay hydrated!

I'm 14 weeks out. I went back to work at 2 weeks, but it was probably 8-9 weeks before I had the hang of eating, etc. I still occasionally get Dizzy from time to time.

Well as a fellow photographer I can tell you that I did a 4 hour glamour shoot 5 days after surgery and had no issues at all doing it. There should be no issue at all 4 to 6 weeks out unless there is some serious complications.

I was tired the first few days, after the that im super energized! Word of advice start taking your Vitamins now it helps with energy! I started taking my Vitamins six month pre op and I stonly believed helped me recover faster hey it doesn't hurt. Also B12 is great for energy. You will be fine!

I don't think you will have any problems if the wedding is 6-8 weeks out. I got sleeved on February 26 and I had my first shoot today. It was a good friend so I was okay with scheduling it this soon. I knew if I couldn't finish the shoot it would be no problem to reschedule. I did finish the shoot, however when I was finished it was way past the time for me to rest. 1st off it was a one year old and I had to get down on the ground and up again. Well you know how it is with kids. But I did it and I feel great now that I had a 30 minute rest. Im still on liquids so my strength isn't back like I'm used to. I'm confident if you give yourself 2 months for a wedding you will do fine. Best of luck!

Honestly the whole process went really well. Surgery was on a Thursday, home Friday and I was up, showered and shopping by myself on Saturday morning feeling great. Off pain meds Saturday other than regular childrens liquid tylenol and off that on Monday. That Monday I drove myself to the docs office to have the incisions checked, visited a couple clients and felt nearly 100%. Then on Tuesday night 5 days post-op did a 4 hour shoot and another 3 hour shoot on that Thursday 7 days post-op. Never had an issue.

By the 2 week mark I was cleared to full activity including weights and anything else at the gym I wanted to do. If I could lift weights 2 weeks after I can't imagine not being able to shoot a wedding many weeks later.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
