smaller measurements with vsg then without @ same weight ?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone noticed their measurements are smaller with the vsg then without it at similar weights. Kinda hard to explain but here is my example.

Yesterday I broke into the 260's. I am wearing a size 40 pants and wearing all of my old clothing I use to wear. I have lost 80lbs without the sleeve on 2 separate occasion a few years back. At 260lbs years ago I would be a 42 pant size... so why now at the same weight with the vsg am I a lose 40, possible 38" pants?

I also noticed shirts that would normally be tight at this weight in the past are fitting loser.

Anyone know why this is?

I actually posted the same thing a few weeks back. On a whim I tried on some pants that fit me about 20-30lbs less than I was at the time. I was certain they weren't going to fit, but to my surprise I got them on and fastened. If I remember correctly, someone said they thought it was because of the high Protein diet we're on now. I can see how this is true. With a calorie/protein and protein/carb ratio drastically different than what we're used to (even when dieting), it seems feasible that we would lose differently than normal, too.

The high Protein low carb diet is good?

My bet, and this is just a guess is that you are much better hydrated this time around. Water weighs a lot, and if you are well hydrated, water weight is going to spread throughout your bloodstream rather than focusing around your waist, butt, thighs, etc. my theory says that even at the same weight, you have less fat on your body, therefore your central mass is less.

I also think that most of us have given up inflammatory foods for the first time ever. I have not had a diet coke in weeks. Many of us have given up refined sugar for the first time ever. I know I have less inflammation in my body. I have lost the puffiness in my face and the swelling in my ankles to a greater degree than what can be explained through my weight loss alone.

I was just talking to my mom about this yesterday! I'm currently at 280 (I'm 5'10") and yesterday I fit in to a size 22 pants with no stretching, sucking in, or pleading to the clothing gods. I'm fitting in to tops as low as the 18/20 range, and I've even bought some 1x things. Never have I been so "small" at a weight like this. I know, mentally, that part of it is the fact that I have rather even weight distribution. I also wonder about vanity sizing - making larger clothing at a smaller size to make consumers feel good. Because of health issues, I've not been able to exercise consistently, so I know that it isn't because I'm suddenly a gym rat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
