Rules about drinking before/after eating

Recommended Posts

Since I know each doc is different and I am curious - what did your doc or nutritionist tell you the rules are about drinking before/after eating?

For the record mine said stop 15 minutes prior and do not resume until 60 minutes after the last bite is taken. My nutritionist also said that if I have a mushy food like yogurt, pudding, applesauce I don't have to follow the liquid rules.

I have made it a habit of stopping 15 minutes before and waiting 45 minutes after, regardless of what consistency of food I'm eating. Stick to this, it's a key to success long term.

I was told 30/30, though honestly I'm more of a 15/30 kind of girl.

3o minutes before and after...the 30 minute rule before is because she doesn't want my stomach be full of Water because I won't be able eat what I need to eat. I don't know why the 30 minute after...but I've read somewhere by another verticalsleevetalk poster...that drinking while eating or drinking soon after helps make your food a slurry quicker...so you get hungrier faster and can eat more.

I have a real hard time doing the 30/30...only because if I did that...there isn't enough time in the day to get my water and food in. I try real hard, but I also think I'm more of a 15/30 follower.

30/30 for me.

I am struggling with this probably more than anything! I will allow myself a SIP when done eating and that's it. Guzzling iced tea while eating is a hard habit to break. I still fix me a big ol' glass of tea when I eat even though I can't get but maybe that one sip in.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
