Phoenix, Az (Support Group for West Side)

Recommended Posts

Ok! SO! I am in Arizona, finally, & I think we should get this little "support group" we discussed together as there aren't really any in the Avondale/Goodyear area. We had discussed friendship park before, I believe, I'm not sure how busy that would be but there is also a park in my community & one in JSP's also I am sure, that may work better just due to the amount of others around. Input there?

Second thing when. I'm a stay at home mom so my schedule tends to be a little more flexible than others (though sometimes it means I am dragging along two children) I think we should aim for next month. Would every prefer a weekend or a week day? What time of day works better for everyone?

Once it heats up do we have a solution?

How often would we like to do it?

Anyway I'd love to hear all feedback/opinions!

I don't know where everyone is in their process that was talking about getting together, so I don't know if I'm a little too "newbie" here... BUT, I would love to tag along, and I would even be willing to host when it gets hot or even now since I'm a stay at home mom too! I'm at Dysart and Thunderbird. I have two young kids and have a backyard with a big swing set and slide to keep the kiddos entertained! :) I am scheduled for May 3rd in Mexico so I have the Medical Tourism experience to add to the group too, especially since I have had surgery out of the country before too!! Totally understand if you all are a little further along in your journey though, and if so, maybe keep me in mind and I could start tagging along a little later on down the road! lol But if I'd be a good fit, I'd love to meet you all and it might be nice if our kids are close in age too!!!

Nope! we seem to be about in the same spot! I will be having surgery in May at Banner Gateway. There is a support group up in Peoria once a month that would be close to you also! JPS & I attend.

I have finally ventured back on to the boards here. A little background, I was sleeved Dec 2010 in Alabama. My lowest was 148 in October 2011 but shortly thereafter I was in a car accident and then had my parents moved in with my husband and I and became full time caregivers to them along with working full time. We moved to AZ to be closer to my daughter and because of my parents able to find a house in Sun City (crossroads 99th/Grand). I would love to have a support group here, I need to be accountable again as I have been neglecting myself and have actually gained weight as I am not exercising like I should and given into temptations of food in the house for my parents. For me evenings and the weekends work for in trying to met up. Let me know when we can get together.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
