Feeling More Hopeful!

Recommended Posts

I just had my first 1:1 NUT appointment! My NUT said that I am doing really well with the nutrition plan, making healthy choices and putting together really balanced meals. Ive also lost 13 lbs this month!! One thing she does want me to be concious of is losing too much weight as I cant go below 211 (at 226 as of this morning). She also wants me to add one more day of physical activity and keep working on taking my time eating and chewing my food to applesauce consistency.

BEST news: I only have to see her one more time!! My next appointment is in 3 weeks! After that I will get to see the surgon and set my surgery date! I am SO excited!

Still having issues with one of my close friends always asking me if I am sure that I want to go through with WLS...even though Ive tried to talk to her many times to explain why I want the surgery. I think part of the issue might be jealousy, but either way its getting to be pretty annoying. I also have yet to tell my dad and step mom about the surgery, but I am thinking Im going to wait to tell them till my surgery date is set and it gets closer...

That's awesome. I have been heavy my whole life.ive told basically everyone i talk to about my surgery. My parents are most against it. I've tried to hide how much being overweight has effected me my whole life. I know what you mean in wanting to wait until you have the date set. My dad asked me a hundred times if I'm sure I want to do this. I can't wait to have it done!

Congrats on making it this far. Your friend may just be concerned about your surgery, after all it's is major surgery - even though they do it everyday.

I told my girlfriend about my weight loss this past month, following my NUT plan, and she was like "yay, so reconsider surgery!" I was like...you just dont get it....I need to be able to keep it off. Ive lost and gained my whole life. Im tired of the yo-yo. I just want to be healthy...and I dont understand why people dont see WLS as a healthy option for weight loss.

I can understand that she is concerned, but the risk for this surgery is <1% where as the risk for me developing diabetes and heart disease is a lot greater...and Ive tried to explain this to her.

Good for you Star! I would also keep practicing not drinking with meals. I wish I took that a little more seriously because I'm finding it really hard. Not that I have much solid food yet at about 2 weeks out but still. I find myself constantly having to be reminded before grabbing a drink. Best of luck to you!

Got some great news today!! I had my second NUT appointment and not only am I down 20 lbs, but I do not need to meet with her again!! I should be getting a call this week to set up the appointment with my surgeon, but they are waiting for my psy eval. Spoke with the lady that did my eval and she is going to "approve" me, but is waiting for information from my therapist...who is dragging her feet. So, hopefully this will get straigtened out within the week and once I meet with the Dr, surgery should be scheduled to be within 3-4 weeks of when I meet with him!! (that is as long as everything goes ok with insurance, which I dont see why there would be an issue at this point). OMG I am just so excited right now!!! :D

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
