January Bandsters???

Recommended Posts

I had to get rid of my regular workout pants and wear the smaller pants I haven't been able to wear for a while. My daughters teacher was looking at me and saying "hey, are you losing weight?" She said that I had been wearing my jacket or jacket tied around the waist so it was hard to tell, but my clothes today were more form fitting.

I don't feel ready, or skinny enough yet to take pics. But I think I will take a mid point pic and one near goal!

BabyGotback...That's a wonderful feeling isn't it!!!!!! Two days ago I was standing in the kitchen and my husband was talking about how baggy my jeans were getting, the same ones that a month ago I had to undo to put on my shoes! Well, I got to messing around with them and was able to put my hands in the pockets and pull them down without unzipping!!!!!!!!!! So, even though the scales aren't moving anywhere, the inches are. Now, if I could only find a new use for these underwear and bras that don't fit anymore...........:D

I feel the exact same way. The scales are saying "I gained" however, my clothes are saying "I've lost".

I also had a NSV yesterday. I was sitting at a red light when I could feel someone looking at me, I looked over the left and there were these two young boys giving me the looks and smiling at me. LOL. Wow, even though I'm 40 and happily married for 19 years, it still felt good to have these young boys notice me. They probably would have crapped their pants had they known I was 40. LOL.

Here is another NSV I had, a guy I work with came up to me yesterday and said my face looks so much thinner and not only that, my complextion looked so much smoother too. He said he could tell I was losing weight. No one from work knows I had the Lap-Band surgery, but they they know I had a hernia repair, so thats all they think. Its just nice when someone notices. It lifts my spirits.

Hi to all my fellow Bandsters,

I'm a late member of the January Bandsters. I was banded 1/31. Doing great. Getting a little tired of liquids, but love the results. Down 25 lbs in the past 4 weeks.

Just thought I'd stop by....

That is awesome!!!! Don't forget to keep a pair! I kept a pair of my parachute underwear from when I was 240+ and pull them out once in a while.

I don't have any jeans to wear now and don't want to wear the big ones that don't fit anymore. They actually make me look heavy.

Your body will catch up with the inches soon and you will have a big drop in weight. It has happened to me before!!

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Someone told me that once one person notices, a lot of people start to notice. My daughters teacher noticed yesterday and I was so happy. She said the baggy clothes I had been wearing hid the fact I was losing.

Welcome to the group. I was banded on the 31st also. Feeling pretty much back to normal now. Unfortunatly getting my appetite back and having to use my "self control". Never one of my strong suites. But so far so good.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I drive a VW Golf that has automatic triptronic transmission. Basically when the car is in drive you can move the gearshift to the right and then push the gear shift up or down to go up or down on gears, it's like stick shift w/out the clutch.

Anyways I digress, usually when I drive, my leg used to lean against it, and push the gearshift to the triptronic mode. Today I was driving home and noticed there was a 1/2" gap between my leg and the gearshift! I know it's something small, but it's the best NSV I had!

Also I walked for 15 minutes today in the FREEZING cold with my dog. I'm going to try for 20 tomorrow in the afternoon when it's a little bit "warmer".

Keep up the good work! :clap2:

What is a NSV? Sorry a new acronym...

NSV stands for Non scale Victory! Like your clothes fitting better or anything that is not scale related.

I forgot to mention to you guys that as a gift to myself for the "new me", I got my teeth bleached. It cost me $410 but I believe it is the best gift I have ever given myself. I can't believe the difference. I am getting so many comments on how pretty my teeth are. One girl today at work asked if I had veneers. I love them!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
