Hello everyone,

I am home!! It wasn't bad at all no gas pains or shoulder pains. Everything went very well...I'm glad to be home. I walked around about three hours after I went up to my room. I also got up at about 5:30am this morning and walked for about 15 mins. Overall I'm doing okay, thank the Lord. I hope everyone is doing good.

Be BLESSED!

Hi everybodyy,

Things went well and I am home. When I woke up from surgery, I was shaking pretty hard (from the cold - my temp was way down) but within minutes they had me warmed up and on pain meds. When they put in the lap band, the doc also fixed my hiatal hernia which was alot larger than they expected but it is GONE! Yahooo! For now, I am walking about to dislodge the gas in my shoulder (Not bad at all) Otherwise - not much to report on day 2.....phew!

I had my anesthesia consultation over the phone yesterday morning. It's finally seeming real! Only 10 more days! Today is my appointment with the hematologist. Please everyone send me good vibes -- I need him to clear me for surgery!

Maria

Sending you lot and lots of good vibes!!!!!!!!!!! :biggrin1:

Wow, the new January lap banders are coming in for a landing like jets on an aircraft carrier, one after the other. Mission accomplished. Welcome back all. Everyone seems to be doing well. Congratulations.

Pretty soon I'll be joining you.

Hello January Bandsters..Just found your thread and decided to say Hello and ask to be added to your list..My surgery date is january 26th:clap2: and i'm very excited but also nervous...I've read many of your postings and have taken a little of each one to prepare myself for what is to come...I know everyones experience is different but having so much support is AWESOME! My surgeon is Dr. Viriato Fiallo in Springfield, MA. It only took 2 WEEKS after all my pre op appointments to get it approved (Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA)..I'm very excited and can't wait to get this show on the road!!! Keep me in your prayers as i will keep you all in mine!!! God Bless:pray2:

Bandida,

I live in Hartford and have BCBS too and zipped through my pre-op appointments really quickly as well. Had my surgery on the 10th and am doing great so far (*knock on wood*). Is Dr. Fiallo going to put you on a liquid diet towards the end of the month?

they first gave me this mask that went completely over my face & nose. I tried really hard to get used to it, I really did. But finally I felt like I was going to suffocate, so I told them i had to have another mask. They then brought me a mask that fit right under my nose, I slept so good after that!

Tonya, What are they thinking with those full face masks? How can anyone tolerate those? I'm glad you were able to move right past that. I just don't understand why they even use those at all. I hope it all works out for you. Somewhere down the road I'd like to hear if you feel like the cpap is helpful to you. And I hope that shortly after that we can get rid of them for good!

You are going to do great. Seriously, it is so much easier than I though that it would be.

It's interesting how I keep hearing about pre-op diets and liquid diets before surgery..I was put on a diet for 1 month by my nutritionist and psychologist, to see if I could handle it, I lost 20 pounds when I went to see the nutritionist and she said that was great..but I wasn't told to do a liquid diet before surgery, i wasn't told that the diet had to be followed throughout my process..now my surgery date is 1/26 and reading all these posts, i'm a little worried..i guess i'll just have to ask all my questions reguarding these things on tuesday when I go to see the surgeon for the last time before surgery..I'm so glad i read through all these...any more ideas on what questions I should be asking???? HHEELLPP!!!:help:

I am home Have been for around 5 hours. I think most of my pain is gas. None of my incisions seem to hurt but there is a muscle pain that I can't place. I have been taking gasx but I am bloated. I just want to sleep. I have been walking but probably not as much as I need to. Gave myself my heparin shot and I am sipping on liquids. Have any of my band buddies posted yet?

Hi all,

I´m back and I am banded :clap2:

I checked into the hospital yesterday at about 9:00 AM and had my surgery around 11. I stayed over last night and was released at about noon today. So far so good. My only problem so far has been some pretty serious gas pains, but a little Gas-X seems to have taken away most of that discomfort.

I´m so excited...So far I´m struggling to get all my liquid in, but I´ll continue to do my best :nervous

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
