March is approx 1 week away. When are you being sleeved? Where (city/hospital) are you being sleeved? Who is Sleeving you into your new beginning?

Who else is starting preop this coming weekend? I am starting on Sunday...I am stocked up and ready to go.....

Funny how that I notice my ticker says 1 week 6 days now, how scary is that?

I am excited to meet all of the other March 13 & 14th sleevers!!! YAY!

Also, just wanted to mention there are some books about VSG on amazon. I have a kindle, and you can download them for .99 - $3.99 to your kindle / amazon library...or you can order print copies. Most of them have 4-5 star ratings.

Thanks for the info! I don't think I'll start mine until next Wednesday as they only said I needed 7 days pre op diet. I think it depends on your BMI as to what they suggest. I'm going to get my last Taco Tuesday in! Lol I'm still waiting for my protein powders to come in so hopefully they will any day now. I have some Body by Vi Weight Management powder but it has a lot of fiber & only 12 gms protein... if I double up on the powder I'm going to be in the bathroom all day long...no bueno! so I figured I could mix it with the other powders I ordered. Did you say your surgery is 3/13 as mine too?

I started my pre op diet last wednesday ive lost 14 pounds very close to 15 I drink Eas soy protein powder I mix it with a half of cup of water and a half of cup of light soy milk I drink half then the other half 3 hours later and then after thats finshed 3 hours later I drink the eas shake the pre mix again I half it up then for dinner I have a salad with either chicken, fish or 2 eggs I feel full not hungry I guess cause im drinking every 3 hours oh I also drink almost a gallon of water a day. I only have to do the diet for 2 weeks but I decide to do it for 3 weeks at this rate I may lose 30 pounds before surgery that would put me at 225.

Thanks! I went and bought the socks today to pack!

You will be glad you did, I have two pair I wear them to work. They are wonderful for circulation.

I have a question being new to this board. Why are so many people having surgery in Mexico?

For me it was quality of care and expertise of the surgeon. I have insurance that would probably pay but the care and experience is lacking.

March 7th

Sydney Adventist hospital in wahroonga Australia

I'm only on a one week pre op liquid diet

Good luck ✌

This also the date of my surgery too!

I think the reasons vary. For some, their insurance doesn't cover the procedure. For others it's a matter of cost. Or, like another poster shared, they felt more comfortable with the surgeons expertise since they been doing the sleeve for years. I'm sure there are other results too.

Hello. If you do research you will see that more people have problems with the WLS in the states then in Mexico. Mexico has been doing this for years. I trust them more then an american doctor. Just because its another country doesnt mean the quality of care is not the same or better. Do research And then more research And everything I learned is taking me across the border on March 8th!
