Is nausea and vomiting common?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on January 15 and still have nausea and vomiting. Is this common and does anyone else have this too?

Do you get sharp pains in your belly too? Even if you inhale? Just curious.

I was sleeved Feb 4th and I have nausea and vomit every night after trying to eat dinner. It only happens after i eat dinner, so today I decided it might be related to the fact that I drink a lot of Water during my workout, shower and then eat dinner. Maybe my stomach is still too full of water even though I think enough time has passed? Tomorrow, I am going to try eating dinner an hour later to see if that helps. Here's hoping it does.

It took me about 6 months to get used to how to eat and drink again. This is all new. You will get the hang of it.

I have not had any nausea or vomiting, I feel really bad for anyone who has. I would be on the phone to your Doctor for sure. Hope it stops soon.

I've just started on the soft diet and everytime I eat I get discomfort in my sternum and then I get sick, I do the 20/20 but this doesn't work. I always end up eating cold food due to the time it takes to eat. I have the same problems with drinking but without the vomiting. I'm sure I'm not drinking enough but really cannot get it down without severe discomfort. My surgery was on 23/01/13. Weight lost 29 and a half pounds x

I am terribly nauseated every single morning since I had my surgery Jan. 30th. I had my 2 wk post op visit last week and the nurses said it was not uncommon to feel this way and that my new stomach is still figuring things out. They said at 6 weeks if I'm still sick, they will run test. I hope it goes away soon, thank goodness for Zofran! Oh, and by the way, I've never vomited. Hope you feel better soon!

I was sleeved 1/29 so I'm 3.5 weeks out and am still sick most days, not able to drink anything near what the Dr wants and eating almost nothing (today I managed a ground-breaking 80mls of Soup - astonishing! ).

My surgeon said it's fairly normal for 4-6 weeks and as long as everything is heading in the right direction overall, not to be too hard on myself. So I guess for the first 6 weeks we're still settling down from the op, which everyone does at different rates....

It's sooooo boring throwing up after everything though....!

Today I was able to eat mashed potato, mashed carrot, minced beef and gravy. Tiny portion eaten very slowly and its stayed down, I'm so happy :-) I dont feel sick at all. I was actually dreading eating my tea/dinner as I expected to be sick like everytime before. I have tried to up my fluids today as I know I'm dehydrated. I hope this all helps :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
