Xray showed Fatty Tissue around heart..this surgery could be a blessing in disguise!

Recommended Posts

So far on my VSG journey due to tests that are required for this surgery I have been informed that I have a hiatal hernia, several small ulcers, gastritis and now fatty tissue around my heart. I prayed about my decision before I pursued my search for a WLS and even during my journey I have continued to pray; that if this surgery is not good for me and not God's will then something would delay or prevent it from happening. So far everything has fallen into place even with each new diagnosis.

I can honestly say that with every appointment and day that passes I am more convinced that this surgery is what he has in store for me. I would have never known about these conditions to address them, had i not went down this road. I considered myself to be in good condition other than being overweight. Even with each finding the condition is actually repaired or fixed upon having surgery or achieved through my weight loss which wouldn't happen without this surgery.

My chances of developing heart disease or having a heart attack are more likely now than any reason i could talk myself out of surgery. Turns out now i have a co morbidity!

If i have the surgery, they fix the hernia, the ulcers have been treated, and the fatty tissue around my heart decreases with exercise and weight loss.

Seem to me it's my destiny to have this surgery... with 5 days and counting i don't feel pessimistic, anxious or scared... . i'm feeling very blessed!

I agree that this surgery feels like a life saver!! I also found out I have a hiatal hernia and gastritis. (I've actually known about the gastritis for about 10 years.) I was not required to do a chest x-ray, but the thought of heart disease scares me because it is so prevalent in my family! Good luck to you on your new and healthy life!!! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
