We can't have carbonation bc of the gas bubbles right? so can we open a drink, say a diet coke, and let it go flat before we drink it? Not all the time, but once in a while if I have a soda craving tht wont go away. Im pre surgery and I am just trying to think of my options.

Some people do it that way, some people drink fountain soda only thinking it has less bubles, some drink full on carbonated, some skip it all together.

Like John said, everyone seems to have varied advice on this.

I got told that on occasion it isn't an issue. But if I have a carbonated drink or a beer to have it out of a glass not a can or a bottle.

DISCLAIMER: This is the advice I received and follow. I'm not recommending anyone else follow it. Please don't jump on me, or tell me I'll get a leak :P

I love soda. One of the first things I asked my NUT and dr was if I could have soda again afterwards. My NUT said its bad for you and not to have it again, but my dr said if I wait till about 3-4 months out and drink it flat I could. Personally I love soda, but not flat, so I will go without I guess.

Laura, you're so bad. Now I want wine.

OP - I can't imagine drinking soda flat. The carbonation is what makes it good! Maybe you can find some other drink to treat yourself with? I'm pre-op as well and my surgeon said my sleeve will dictate whether or not I can have a soda. His preference is that I don't, because there is nothing good for you in a soda, but if I want one, I need to wait at least 3-4 months. Then my sleeve will tell me whether it was a good idea or not.

I'm weaning myself off of caffeine and carbonation pre-surgery. I'm attacking caffeine first and have transitioned to flavored sparkling Water. In a couple of weeks I plan on ditching that altogether too. I'm not having a food funeral, I'm having a bubbly funeral. *sniff*

I caved in and drank a Diet SunDrop flat yesterday. It was delicious...but I liked flat SunDrop before surgery, so I'm a bit weird. I didn't have a problem with it, but everyone is different.

I remember once on night work we had to transport a 15 year old girl home. She was blind drunk and had thrown up on herself.

She was wearing a T Shirt that said "Fruity Lexia makes you Sexier"

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
