So I got my surgery "packet" in the mail today. It was a whole 2 sheets and go me no information at all. I'm a little upset because I had to find out via mail that I need an EGD now. I specifically asked my surgeons office if I needed one and was told no and now I do. Why can't people get stuff straight?? Now I'm worried they're gonna find some freak thing on my EGD and I won't get to have the surgery.

Has anyone or can you not be able to have the sleeve done due to something on EGD?

I don't have any stomach problems or reflux unless I eat something super super spicy.

I had mine done on Tuesday. They told me after I woke up that all was normal. After I got home, they called me with the results of the punch biopsy they did and told me that I have H pylori and prescribed meds to treat it. Surgery wasn't rescheduled because of this, and although it sucks to find out that you have a medical problem, I'm glad they found it because if not treated, it can lead to serious problems later on. And, by the way, I didn't have any symptoms, no reflux at all.

Mine was completed and all was cool. Had H Pylori also and was prescribed meds. This is common and is good to have completed so they can see what your stomach looks like.

Had the EGD and it showed chronic gastritis and peptic esophagitis both from acid reflux damage, also a hital hernia adding to reflux. It can be repaired when I have the sleeve. But it's good they want o see inside your system BEFORE surgery so there are no surprises during surgery. Think of it as a safety procedure.

I had mines done a week ago and got the results back and i have a mild cause of gastritis. I was nervous at first but all was fine. had no clue what had happen at all. It is best to get done so that you will know what is going on inside of you.....i do agree to think of it as a safety procedure so it want be any surprise during surgery....Good luck

I had mine done on the feb1... It was fine and normal.

The reason they do them is to verify that your anatomy is normal, you don't have any obvious ulcers, or issues from acid reflux.

This way when your surgeon goes I for surgery there are no surprises.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
