What Are to eating? I am4 days out..eating Protein Jello, protein pudding, Water, ensure clear water 9 grams of protein and a pedialite freezer pop for electrolytes . I realalize that for me to do it right, I need a stop watch with me at all times. Two min. Between bites until its gone. Then a 30 min timer to start on liquid. Again, two min in between sips. It's a lot of work, but I feel it is helping me get the rythym of it all. The only problem I'm having is nightmare hart burn! I have been tryi g to find the right "heartburn cocktail" witch hopefully do he trick! While I know I need to increase my water inked, I'm peeing at a regular basis do Im hoping that I am staying away from dehydration !

It gets better over time. I found that one week a beef broth was the best thing i tasted and the next week i couldn't stand it. I don't know if this is normal but i found the smell of any fast food makes me sick to my stomach. As far as fat food i think so eventually in smaller portions. But i guess it depends on what you consider fat foods. Me i love cheesburgers so i have found ways around all the fat by getting salmon burgers or if i want beef i just get the litte sliders from fresh and easy or some beef from whole foods and make a small patty.

I'm not understanding the question given what you say you're eating? What are you eating that's "fat"?

I haven't had mine yet but I heard it is 2 weeks of clear liquids.. Jello included. Grits/oatmeal are at phase 2 I think. You may be taking on phase 2 too soon. Good luck to you. My surgery is in March.

one week out I was on broth and drinkable yorgurt.

Are you asking if you can have fatty foods and not get sick? I am a little confused by your question.

Oh yes, Ma'm. You will be able to eat so much that you will have to learn to stop. I'm 18 months post op and I can eat a variety of things but only few that I can not. Steak... depending on how it's prepared and the cut of beef (filet mignon is gental on the stomach)... does not digest well... But a potato chip and Cookies goes down great... so be very careful! We don't expireance dumping like the Roux-enY patients, so you have to monitor your sugar intake carefully. Soups and stews are a great. Zoup soups have a great variety and they are filling and affordable.

Good luck to you too...stage 1 is Clear Liquids day 1 and 2 in the hospital ......stage 2 is full liquids starts at day 3 when you go home for 2 weeks......for your Protein Shakes and im doing exactly what the doctor orders are...the 2 weeks clean is before surgery so the surgeon can get in there better and do a great job ...it's different a little from between surgeons.. Good luck to my my great sleevers

I was sleeved on Monday and my doctor has me on clear liquids, Water, Gatorade, sugar free apple juice, white grape juice, Jello, Popsicles, crushed ice...he told me not to worry about Proteins at this time, to just stay hydrated.

I return for my 1 week visit on Monday and then will begin creamy proteins for a week.

I think Grits & oatmeal should be week 3 or 4 not week one.

I was told the same thing, clear liquids first week, full solids the 2nd and 3rd week then pureed afterwards.

all Doctors have there own views on the time frame for your healing, alot is based on there own procedure and experience doing the procedure. Not all Doctors use the same procedure, the surgery is not assembly line medicine. I would go by your Doctors specific recomendations not what others think on the boards.

Now for the flaming to begin having done the vertical sleeve you have opted for the most dangerous of the Bariatric procedures, there is more that can go wrong with it than the others. Infection, leaks, perforations Etc. So I know it's hard but work on what your doctor says it gets better.

As for the indigestion your best friend is a roll of Tum's hands down let it dissolve in your mouth, good luck

Just about forgot my Doctor allows me 1/4 cup sugar free applesauce for my pills and he also prescribed Prilosec out of the hospital.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
