I usually do salmon.. But I think tilapia would be a good choice for a light fish :)

Salmon tends to be a thicker cut

Tilapia is a thin cut fish and will "look" bigger

And I know where your coming from. I've been out to several functions sometimes it goes off well and other times I've been asked what's going on... When you are at a function with people that you may not know very well. You may not want to have to explain your personal business

The type of fish isn't going to affect the portion size. You're not going to be able to eat more of one kind of fish than another.

Cmon now......Hmmmm, are you eating for yourself or the strangers? The healthy portion is what your sleeve can handle, don't worry about the strangers.

If you eat a large portion and throw up, I don't think your business associates will be positively impressed. Sorry for being so graphic.

Yes, I just cut up my food & hide it under other things....like the bread, etc. If all else fails just throw your napkin on it when no one is looking...they'd never remove it to see what you ate!

I find it so amusing how far people go to look like they are eating more. It seems odd to me.

I'll tell you, I've been to several lunches with customers & as a customer. Also as a business meeting. Honestly I've never experienced anybody paying any attention to how much anyone else eats (well, maybe if someone were eating for 3 people).

I'd recommend ordering exactly what you'd like, and request your server box 1/2 of your meal before it is brought to the table.

Sorry OTR, but it does happen and it has gotten uncomfortable.. Not every time ! But it has come up. maybe some people get uncomfortable if someone else is not consuming a large amount of food... I don't know...

Oh and maybe they are scared to say anything to you OTR !! I know I am :)

I agree! I really can't get my head around why all the shenangan's some go through, hiding what you eat, the concocted stories about what surgery you had. Any time you have to put that much effort into something to benefit others it is in my opinion unnecessary stress. Oh, Snapper is a very tasty fish.

This hasn't been my experience at all. I can eat maybe 3 bites of a thick cut salmon because it tends to be drier. Tilapia and Swai, I can eat an entire small fillet because it is such a light and flaky fish.

It's about the art of looking like your eating it sometimes.

LOL, I try not to waste food but at a wedding recently I just moved the food around so it looked like I had eaten a bit more of it. I was with a group of friends and some know about the surgery so they definitely do watch what and how I eat. It's a little annoying to feel like a science experiment while you're eating.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
