Ok' date=' hope I'm not stepping on any toes...like I said this is NOT my recipe....someone else posted it here...I just can't find it here now...here goes:

Protein balls

1 cup old fashioned oats

1 1/2 cups Protein powder (I used chocolate)

1 cup Peanut Butter (I used crunchy Skippy)

Handful of dried fruit (I used cranberries)

Dash of SF Torani Syrup (to taste)

Splenda (I used 3 packets)

Mix the glob together with a little Water until you get a consistency to roll into balls. Roll into balls a little smaller than golf balls and freeze. Take them out and defrost when you plan to eat. They're good frozen and defrosted.

Yum! [/quote']

Aww that was me!! I'm so glad you like them!! I have a batch in the fridge right now.

If only I liked Peanut Butter those might go over well...perhaps I could try them with some almond butter or something once I'm back in the states.

Has anyone tried the Protein balls subbing in something else? I'll eat cashew butter or almond butter but that's it. Not even Nutella impresses me. :)

I'm sure other nut butters would work but regular Peanut Butter helps with the consistency. The natural stuff would be hard to mush up into a ball with the other ingredients...maybe add agave or maple Syrup? Or combine everything and press into a pan so you can have little bars instead.

Newgrandmother, I honestly couldn't tell you as I wasnt counting anything....I was just eating when I felt like I needed to and ate what I was able to keep down. First 2 months were really hard on me and I had some nausea issues for a few weeks. Mostly my portion sizes were very, very small and no bread of any kind up until this past month. LOTS of chicken as it has mostly been the only protien that hadn't given me issues. When I saw my Dr for my 3 month check up he asked me what I was eating and then said actually tell me what you aren't able to eat. We went over the things giving me issues and nothing seemed abnormal for where I'm at in my Time line. He said he wasn't going to call my weight loss abnormal yet, he would just continue to monitor me, but he wanted to make sure I WAS eating (which I am! ) my starting weight was 432 though so I still have a ways to go. :-)

In kind if boring, at five weeks out, I eat fruit flavored mints (certs, ice breakers, etc). They are low in carbs and satisfy the sweet tooth.

String cheese (love the basil & sundried Tomato flavor) and black olives. I also like reduced fat wheat thins, but don't eat them much because of the carbs.

I am about 4 1/2 months out and have a few favorites:

Frozen grapes, green or red - I prefer the red I think they taste like candy. I can eat about 6-10 depending on the size.

I love baby carrots with the lighthouse jalapeno ranch dressing to dip them in.

Laughing cow light chipotle cheese with the wheat thin toasted chips

Pirates Booty

string cheese with apples or grapes

fruit salad (1/4 banana, 1 slice apple, few grapes, blackberries)

lunch meats rolled around a string cheese

My list goes on :) Hope this gives some ideas!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
