My stomach is angry!

Recommended Posts

I am 4 days post op and I think my stomach is angry at me. It is doing flip flops, contracting and making terrible growling sounds. Is this normal? How long will it last? I am not in any pain and I am tolerating my liquids fine but my tummy is not happy it seems.

Hi, I'm 5 days post-op and mine does the same thing and talks to me and my wife all night. I think its just telling us thanks for caring enough about our health to have this done.

I'm a month out and my stomach still makes a lot of noise. Mostly when I'm laying down though.

This is perfectly normal it does lessen as time goes(length of time varies for everyone). I believe it has to do with the stomach acids not having any solid food to break down, It also seems to be lessened by use of Prilosec. Good Luck

I had this very bad. It cleared up when I did two things: get completely off the pain meds, and add some probiotic powder to my liquid meals. It's actually your intestines making all that noise and movement.

Just slap it and say "SHUSH!" real loud. That's what I'd do.

I was sleeved on the 17th and mine is quite noisy as well. I'm off the pain meds. It doesn't always do it. But when it does its loud, louder than I ever remember. But this too will pass.

Is that like when you kick the computer to make it work?

For the first few weeks your tummy can and will make noises, it will flip and it will flop, it will growl and you may even think that you are hungry or some people have said they are "starving to death".

The "hunger pains" or growling is several different things. One of the things is acid. Making sure you take a prevacid or something like that is very important. The second thing it could be is healing pains. Your stomach is cut from one end to the other, there are staples in there. If you cut your finger, it throbs right? Imagine your entire length of stomach was cut. It throbs too. It has to heal, a lot of it is healing pains. The flips and groans go away, I promise. I also promise you aren't starving to death and 99% of the time the growls are not hunger pains.

Every day and every week is better than the week before and eventually you will feel normal. Best of luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
