My surgery is also on Feb 25th. I've lost about 5lbs on the Preop diet. I started a week early. About 9lbs to go for my pre-surgery goal. Not going to make it but feel good about losing 44lbs on my own.

Good luck everyone!

That's great!! I'm also doing a colon cleanser before surgery, maybe that will help you meet your goal.. Just a thought!!

Hey everyone I have a question i am 8 months out an I am doing great.. My husband had the same surgery on 2/13 and he is having an excessive amount of phlegm that is making him gag and choke and hasnt been able to sleep since. any suggestions ' date=' I didnt have any complications after my gastrectomy sleee in June and have lost 103 pounds so far[/quote']

Christine, I too have excess phlegm. I think mine is from allergies. I drink warm liquids to help break it up and started taking liquid benedryl before I go to bed. I was sleeved 2/14.

My surgery is almost here. It was moved from the18th to the 19th. Can't hardly sleep now as it is. Tomorrow I get to have one small Breakfast and then I'm on Clear Liquids for the rest of the day. I also get to do the magnesium citrate. Woo Hoo! Not.

Surgeon said on Tuesday I will be hooked up to 2 IV's since I did clear liquids and the magnesium citrate the day before. Good luck to everyone!!

Mine us tomorrow two, but no breakfast! My surgeron doesn't do the magnesium citrate. ...only bypass patients....he doenst care if the bowels are empty! LOL I am starving!

I had my surgery on the 13th as well. I haven't had the phlegm issue. In the hospital I had a "incentive spirometer" I used to breath deeply so I could open up my lungs and cough out any phlegm. When I breathed really deep I could hear and feel some phlegm and it would make me cough, however I never coughed anything up. The nurse and surgeon listened to my breathing a couple of times with the stethoscope and the said my lungs sounded good. I said to them that I hear a little phlegm when I breath really deeply and my surgeon said that that was fine. The anesthesia can cause some build up of Fluid in the lungs and that is why it was important to do those breathing exercises. I think there is a risk of developing and infection if there is to much phlegm. Hopefully he can cough it all out but it sounds like he'll need to see his doc. Maybe they can prescribe him something. Hope all goes well! :)

Ballermom I meet with my surgeon tomorrow. So far I am not on any pre op diet. Im sure I will be given more instructions tomorrow, but my Weight Loss Center said I didn't require losing weight to shrink my liver unless over a 60 BMI. I find all these different posts interesting on the differences in procedures. My surgeon told me they lower the head of the operating table and that moves everything out of the way and allows an easier and quicker surgery. I will update more after my appointment tomorrow. In the mean time I have been watching portion sizes, and calories to maintain; but enjoying some last "favorite" meals before surgery. I want and need the change, but no since having it without enjoying a few last meals I will have to do without.;-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
