Starting an Exercise Program with a "bum" Knee

Recommended Posts

I am post surgery (Nov. 20/12) and it is more than time to commence an exercise program. The problem is, I have an arthritic knee (am on a surgery list for knee replacement) and dont know what exercise I can do that will be effective but not hurt my knee which is always very painful. Does anyone have any suggestions? FYI there is no mall in our town for walking and I have trouble walking anyway. Also, there is usually snow/ice on the ground at this time of year so it is dangerous to walk outside. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Aquasize is a very good alternative. Check your local YMCA. You might want to get gel shots (synviscone) or cotisone in the mean time if you haven't already. Good luck!

You could get some resistance bands and do a full body workout at home. There are also many home workout dvds that are done seated if you're knee is real bad. They are mainly aimed at seniors and people confined to wheelchairs. That might work for you if you can't stand very well. Also, if you have access to an indoor pool, I'd definitely swim and/or do Water aerobics.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
