As of today I have an infection. I went to shower and looked down and bloody looking puss was shooting out of me and I had a meltdown. Went to the dr and she lays me on the table and says let me take a look at it. Then starts to squeeze the stuff out. She used a tool to rip the incision open. Then shoved gauze inside using sterile qtips. None of this was sedated. Yes I yelled and squirmed and cried.

Now I have to repack at home twice a day. My anxiety is so high I had a meltdown before my roomie and fiancee could even touch me.

This sleeve process has been miserable I knew it wasn't going to be a walk in park but I would rather be fat than go through this. I havent had one good day since 1-16.

I'm so sorry you're having so many problems. I would have been frantic if stuff started squirting out of me! Does not sound like fun. Hopefully you will heal quickly now that it's been cleaned up. Once you are on the mend, I bet you start loving your sleeve. Please update us when you have time.

Thank you. Yeah I just was screaming oh my god and my fiancees name. It was squirting like out of a squirt gun but constant. luckily I was in the shower. They said pressure built up and it found a way out. Unfortunately I feel maimed after that drs visit. I have wicked anxiety and they expect me to change my own dressing til it heals. I'm like uh shove stuff into the open hole in my stomach...awesome.

I do like reading your experience! I have a question if you don't mind.... Is the incision that's infected the one that hurt you so badly afterwards? Would your roomie or fiancé be willing to change your bandages if you're unable to? I'm in the medical field and even I get squirmish when it comes to myself!

Yes its been hurting horrible since surgery. The Dr just kept assuring me that was the incision the stomach came through and had stretched muscle. She saw me Thursday said everything was fine by Saturday I was swelling up again, by Sunday I was really red. The wound has to be left open to heal from the inside out. And my Dr expects my fiance to do it. It has to be repacked with the medicated gauze twice a day. We did it a few hours ago but I pretty much had to be held down. The gauze has to be shoved in with sterile qtips. Because of the way they did it at the drs office I believe it has caused anxiety attacks.

I just took a shower. I feel better from that but I need help doing everything. I know this gets better but right now I regret it. I'm not missing food at all I just have never been in so much pain.

Trust me you won't regret it a week from now. I just got my surgery last Thursday so that makes me 5 days post op. the first 4 days are the worse, at least to me, but it does get better and I'm already 8 lbs lighter. When the pain gets too extreme, pray and that will soothe you.

I am an infection and I have to heal with.an open wound now.

I'm sorry this is happening to you :(. I had a similar experience but with my csection incision. It does suck, but it will heal!! Make sure you follow all of the doctors directions and you will heal ok.

asifitsthelast - I too am sorry to hear about your complications. Did the doctor also put you on antibiotics? I received my surgery date yesterday..it will be 2/22. Im glad you have people near you to help.

I'm on a 10 day antibiotic. I fear stuffs gotten worse. I went to clean my belly tonight and I noticed my skin looked weird. It's coming off it ended up peeling back and underneath there were these marks that for lack of better description looked like canker sores. After final cleaning they are holes. Fricken HOLES. They have started leaking like my lapro incision. Drs appt tomorrow.

That doesn't sound good. They need to culture the wound and see what grows out. Make sure you are on the right treatment. Hope the doc can give you some good news today.

This has turned into a nightmare. Nothing short of it. However, you will get past this and endure. I would have a rather straight talk with your doctor about all of this, as it seems unusual (compared to what others have experienced). Best of luck on your progress and wishing you a speedy recovery!

Ok I'm kinda freeking out about doing this surgery now!!!

Don't be scared about the surgery... Trust me what she's going through is a rare occurrence. Many of us have had this surgery with no complications. I being one of them. It is surgery and not to be taken lightly, however, don't go into the surgery thinking that what she's going through is gonna happen to you. You'll do fine. Pray over the dr and all involved in the surgery, then move forward.

Oh my gosh!! Go to the ER... That infection is not good... You need immediate attention for that :(
