Internal stitch peaking out!

Recommended Posts

I'm post op 1 month, ( sleeved dec 10th.) Healing up well, incisions closed. I looked down last night and saw stitches ( thread) popping out the side of the healed incision. No drainage, dry stitches. Has anyone had this happen? If so, do they need to be cut?

I had the same thing. Not sure if they were dissolvable but it disappeared after a few days.

It's pretty common. I had knee replacement a few years ago. The incision runs vertically up the leg and is about 8 inches long. Stitches popped out the entire length of the incision. I was instructed to just pull them out gently with tweezers. If they wouldn't come easily, I just left them alone until they did. Took a few weeks for them all to work their way out. My physical therapist was obsessed with getting them out. I had to threaten him with bodily harm if he didn't stop pulling on them!!

Yeah, I was told specifically NOT to trim them at home. I left it alone and one fell out/off on its own and the nurse ended up having to trim one at my next appt.

I'd be willing to bet he's an obsessive pimple popper too!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
