I ran for the first time today!

Recommended Posts

I feel excited and proud. I am 37 years old and I ran on a treadmill for the first time in my life today. It wasn't for a long time nor was I a speed demon but I did it. I am super psyched! I feel like I am building a newer, healthier me in so many ways. I am so happy I got surgery nearly 4 weeks ago. I did get shin splints the last time I regularly walked on a treadmill. Any advice on how to avoid?

Congrats!! I keep wanting to try running on the tredmill but I am fearful. Icant seem to push past 3.2 mikes for speed and 2 incline!! I usually do 2 miles in about 40 minutes and am drenched so I know I am benefitting!! But that is great for you and a great nsv!!

Ibehere10-I didn't think I could do it. I ran 3 minutes in every 10 minute increment so it wasn't constant. It was truly exhilarating!!

The key to avoiding shin splints is to land more on the balls of your feet rather than your heels. When you land on your heels you pull the toes up, straining the tibialis anterior muscle. But when you land on the balls of your feet, the muscle is relaxed.

Thanks so much! This is a big help.

Ain't it a rush?! When I realized I could run again I felt like I went back in time. My wind is inexhaustible. Only my old leg muscles are holding me back. I am building them up slowly.

I have to admit, I felt a little bit like a super hero lol.... Kidding... but yes such a rush, put me in a frame of mind that I can do anything, and an overwhelming sense of pride.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
