I haven't heard anything about paying my deductible before surgery. I assume I will be billed for my portion after insurance pays their part. My surgery is Jan. 22. I am getting mine down at a University Hospital maybe that makes a difference instead of a private hospital.

I had to pay my surgeons portion at the pre op appointment a fee days before surgery, and I had to pay for my hospital portion upfront when we checked in. Some hospitals will bill you, but a pornographic surgeons and hospitals won't because it is an elective surgery.

I had to pay the surgeon everything I owed him before he would operate. We ended up paying him around $1700. I haven't paid the hospital or the anesthesiologist. When we pre-registered at the hospital, they wanted $900, but I didn't have it. I had a very nice person that told me when I get the bill, to call and make payment arrangements.

LMAO! i needed a laugh. Because I know how you feel. My insurance does not cover my Mandatory pre op classes And Nut visits. So sitting here looking a large bill and that's before surgery. Smh

I say call your insurance ask them first. And see about a payment plan if necessary.

Keep your date. And your head up!

Good luck!

I completely understand why they do require their fees up front.

I have a client that states on a repeated basis she did not pay her surgeon. It completely floors me because I couldn't imagine "stiffing" someone. I'm not stating they do not get paid enough, only that she made a conscious decision and never had any intention of paying her surgeon her part. Ever. She stated she would not (before her surgery) and stands by that decision. That's crazy to me.

The downside? Because it was an elective surgery he can actually prosecute and he is taking her to court to get his money. Will he get his money? i dont know. Only that it is now on her credit report and it does count against her, even though it is medical, because of the elective and not medically necessary.

But....she looks good!

Shame on her. If she did not want to pay it she should not have had it. It is people like that who make our bills even higher than they should be. I hope she has a change of heart. What goes around comes around. And no, I am not any kind of doctor,,, just a regular tax payer like most people.

I know. It's frustrating. It peeves me because my insurance will not cover mine and I am self-pay and she got hers for free by acting like an ass. Lol

Maybe wrong, I don't know, it's just the way I feel.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
