No worries. Totally relaxed here. Just not a fan of judgmental attitudes, especially in regards to personal preferences regarding something as big a decision as surgery. smile.gif

Sorry, I don't find the Center of Excellence BS, because I have a very low immune system and don't want to take any chances being in a regular hospital and contracting something.

Not everyone's circumstances and situations are the same as yours and therefore, not everyone will see things the way you do and arrive at the same conclusions and make the same decisions. When I come across someone in a situation that I find myself being somewhat judgmental of, I stop and remind myself that one different circumstance in my life could have put me right where they are and that I have no right to judge them.

But again, no worries. I know most people don't look at things the way I do and again, that's ok! I I just thought I would explain so others who hadn't yet made a decision knew where I was coming from and that it wasn't a black and white "dissolvable stitches or not" kind of thing. I think Dr Q is likely a great surgeon - he just wasn't the right decision for me. :)

I' date=' personally, used Dr Almanza last year (2011) and though my experience was good and I have been very successful, I would recommend Dr Quinones. I say this because I feel from everything I have read and the several patients I have talked to about their experience with him, that the aftercare and the treatment of the patients far exceeds that of jerusalem clnic. its just craziness over there. As far as the "dissolvable stitches" being a determining factor...I mean...really?[/quote']

C'mon. When you end your comment with ..."I mean... really?"

Well it can easily, and understandably, be taken as snarky. I won't go so far as to say you were being snarky. But perception in reality.

She said it was "one of the MAIN REASONS". After being on several Sleeve FB pages and several Sleeve Forums for over a year and a half' date=' I have found that "Center of Excellence" or not...(which is a bunch of BS, I know from being a nuse for 25 years), I would estimate that at least 75% of folks have their incisions not only open, but at least one of them will become infected, oozing, etc, , whether it is done in the UK, the US, Mexico, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Japan....you get the point. It has nothing to do with the facility or the surgeon. A lot has to do just with how your body responds to foreign objects, i.E., sutures dissolvable or not.

Lord.you guys are sure on the defensive. Relax.[/quote']

Woah!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
