What does your "normal" diet consist of?

I have a question for you bandsters who have been banded for a while now and eating "normally". I put normal in quotes because I know everyones normal will be different.

I am only 1 week banded and wondering what I can expect to be eating say, 6 months, 1 year down the road.

Please give me some insight as to what a regular day of meals is like for you. I would so appreciate the feedback.

I am still tryijng to wrap my brain around this whole new way of eating and living.

Hi - I'm two months out, and just had my second fill yesterday.

Yesterday's food:

BF - non-fat latte, South beach high-protein bar.

lunch - Turkey summer sausage and whole wheat crackers. Green Beans.

snack - Med apple.

dinner - left over PF Changs chicken lettuce wraps.

Which is a pretty normal day for me. My Proteins tend to be fish, tuna and salmon in particular. chicken so far has been fine, as long as it's pretty moist. Sometimes re-heating in a microwave makes it rubbery and hard to eat. I like scrambled eggs also, and have had some pork. Veggies have been fine, as long as I chew well. I haven't tried bread or Pasta, I don't want to find out I can tolerate them as they have been problems before.

This may change now with the second fill!

sorry for all of the questions, I am getting anxious about what's ahead for me. I wonder, if you ate with someone who didn't know you were banded, do you think your meals "stick out"? I don't really know any other way to ask that, sorry. I have not told anyone about my band and don't plan to for some time. I wonder what it will be like when life gets "normal" again.

BTW congrats on your weight loss, great job, very inspiring

I'm working on "getting" the difference between satisfied and full. I find I eat to full, then feel kinda yucky for a while. I'm not sure if I'll need another fill or not yet.

Yes, we eat out quite a bit. Pretty much anywhere expect Italian. Most people around us know we are banded, but if they didn't they wouldn't suspect from what we order and how much we eat. Usually, people are more interested in the company then what others are eating. You can always say you are trying to cut down if anyone notices.

Any other questions, I'll be glad to answer. I hope some longer-term bandsters have more suggestions also!

And thanks - I'm THRILLED with my progress so far. I swear, I'm wearing pants today that were to tight at surgery, are now too big. It's cool.:faint:

Hi, great question! I've been banded since June 05and have lost 114 pounds. A typical day was yeaster day: Egg and salsa in a low carb high Protein wrap for Breakfast, Peanut Butter on a 1/2 a low carb english muffin for snack, grilled chicken salad with low cal dressing for lunch, south beach pizza for dinner and diet pudding. When I'm out with people who don't know I'm banded some type of salad with meat or fish dish does the trick. For about 2 months after the surgery I was kind of down and certian I was going to be "different" and stick out like I had a huge scarlet L.B. on my chest every time I eat in public. Instead I now eat a "normal" meal, just a little bit less than most.

banded for 3.5 mos. restriction for only 1 month. Before restriction I could eat anything like before...but I felt fuller faster. After last fill (9.5cc. in a 10cc. band) I have to watch it.

Breakfast: oatmeal

Lunch: 1 cup shrimp chow mein---slowly, and chewing all the while!

snack: 3 Peanut Butter crackers chew chew chew or will get stuck

dinner: (need to go to the grocery) so we had 2 fried eggs and I had 2 pcs bacon & got filled up (had biscuits for everyone else---I cannot eat them)

evening snack (this is when I get most hungry)

1/2 cup (prepackaged) ice cream (you know the ones packaged 10 in a bag of vanilla with choc or strawberry)

then I drink about 2 glasses of sugar free artific sweetened Decaf iced tea, but only tap Water, don't like very cold things now.

maybe have 2-3 hershey kisses around 10pm...go to bed around midnight.

I usually have banana bread oatmeal with a handful of walnuts or 2 eggs and 1/2 slice of toast or raisin bran muffin(can't eat a whole one,i usually only eat the tops now.)

lunch, Soup and crackers or half a sandwich or leaftovers from the night before.

dinner with the family but less and i usually only have a few mini bits of the potato/rice and focus first on the meat thn veg...

i will do a little write up about my lap band exp....

My eating habits changed radically after the band.

During the week I eat nothing "processed" and don't eat dairy, wheat or sugar. I eat a lot of grilled chicken and turkey, salmon, Omega 3 eggs, Protein shakes and tuna. Also eat lots of veggies and fruits.

On the weekend I eat more calories and less strictly, but I don't go overboard. It really seems to help me lose the weight to keep calories different from day to day and the weekend is for with cravings (mexican food is for weekends) :)

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
