How much liquid at a time?

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve on 11-17 about day 14. I am on liquid diet with Protein Drinks and strained Soups. I was out of Soup so I drank broth today. I drank 8 oz in about 45 mins. Is that to much?

I think I feel full but not sure.

I thought I should just drink 5 oz which I thought is the new size of my stomach.

Any thoughts?

broth is a liquid and is going to go straight through your sleeve so you can drink a lot more. If we couldn't there would be no way we would be able to get 64oz of fluids per day. When you start on soft foods you will know what full is, and probably after an oz or two.

I will be 14 days post-op tomorrow. I have been experiencing the same thing. I was concerned that my sleeve may have stretched. Other members here assured me that this is very normal & things will change as soon as we are allowed to eat anything even semi-solid. So, I am going to take their word for it. Good luck to you!

Oh yes, when you go to puree and especially soft foods you will realize how small your stomach is. That is why they don't want you to fill it up before or to push your food through after eating. no drinking 1/2 hr before or 1/2 after. The 64oz daily includes any shakes, Soups or Protein drinks you have, it's 64oz of liquid a day.

I was sleeved on 9.10.12 and I was drinking just about what you are doing. I could do about 2 ounces every 10 - 15 minutes. You will gradually be able to drink more and more. Trust me....I didn't believe it when everyone said that but it is true. Heads up on when you start eating regular food, you will not be able consume that much. I am 3 months post op today and I can only do about 4 bites and I am full. My dr. says that is completely normal and that at around 6 months I will be able to do 6-8 bites and then at a year I will be able to do about 3-4 ounces and that is the most I should ever be able to eat. This is so you don't stretch your sleeve out. I hope that helps. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
