My doctor reccomended 4~6 weeks off post-op. It seems most are going back after 2 weeks. Being a nurse, i do alot of lifting and pulling. I feel like i could have gone back after 2 weeks.

I am nervous to go back because i have had such little weight loss thus far. My co-workers are aware that i had surgery so i feel embarrassed to go back looking the same. I expected a better/quicker outcome. I know i shouldnt but thats just me..

I think esp being a nurse you need the time. This time will give you an opportunity to plan how you are going to eat and drink while at work. We all know that nursing is unpredictable. It can go from 0 to 100 in minutes back to 20 in the next. You need this time to get used to the new way of eating and figure out how you are going to do this at work. As far as your co-workers, they should know that it isn't instant skinny. Also, that a slow weight loss is a healthier one. Cut yourself some slack and take it

one day at a time. Also you did this for yourself. Not your coworkers. Good luck and keep us posted.

I wish I would have taken 6weeks just to give myself an opportunity to get my energy back to where it was and to plan out my food throughout the day better. Don't worry about your coworkers, you are all health care professionals and Im sure they will be respectful that your body is still healing. I'm sure they will understand.

Take no less than 4 weeks! I was supposed to go back after 2 weeks however when I did my 2 week follow up he said energy will be a factor as your body adjusts. He made me take at least one more week for a total of 3 and I wish I had taken the advice and waited until 4 weeks min. I am community lias/therapist on road a lot! My energy at work is lacking and I'm still drained :). 5 weeks post op and Fluid and Protein intake is good.

I am a nurse also. I work in the OR which is very physical, but I was fine to go back in 2 weeks. I am still trying to work out all the eating and drinking I need to get it, but physically I was fine.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
