Tips To Curb The Homicidal Rage?

Recommended Posts

I'm three weeks out. Used to be on birth control pills but not for a little over a month (my birth control is a little more permanent and non hormonal now BUT I do have birth control AND back up). Should be having a period but it has been the saddest little excuse of a period ever.

I've been exercising as much as I can (congenital hip dysplasia gives me fits some days) but there aren't enough minutes to burn off my crazy rage.

I know I'm dumping hormones and PMSing. I'm also in massive withdrawal.

Times like this, I would eat. Fatty rich foods would put me in a neutral haze. But now, nope. Was desperate and tried a chocolate Protein Shake just to see if it would help. Ha! I live with my hubby and our two teenaged sons. I'm the only estrogen in the house. They fear for their lives. Their heads may literally be bitten off one of these days. And now they know not to bother me when I'm cooking their dinner. I get really hostile then. I'm sure if I could just crouch over the table and snarl and growl I would.

Besides exercise, how do you stave off the inner homicidal maniac?!

The testosterone in my house thanks you in advance.

This is serious. And no one answered. Not a single person.

If I asked if I could get drink yet or that I have rectal bleeding and is that normal, everyone jumps on it.

This is a serious thing. Yes, I tried to be sarcastic about it but the feelings are the same. Glad you all have been there for me on this.

Support group for only certain topics and certain people.

Don't bother responding. I'm deleting the app. After waiting nearly a month to check responses only to find NONE, I've come to realize this is not a forum for me.

Goodbye.

Sorry you guys didn't get a response sooner. I tend not to log on as much as I am nearly 9 months out.

Back to the question at had. I was also a beast the first few months. I'm sure a lot of it is hormones, maybe you should have your birth control re-examined you may need a lighter or just plain different dosage. How to curb your inner beast?? I know this is silly but I would dance to music like a wild women when I was at home alone, that just generally helped me feel better about everything. Also I shopped, I tried to find bargains in my next size down, unfortunately my budget really constricts how much I can do that. So to feel better i would reshop my closet. Try on things that didn't fit and fit now. I would always feel better when i realized how much of a difference there is. I also took a lot of pictures, so to compare. I know this is not a physical release of anger that you were prob hopin for, but for me I needed a happy reminder of my progress and why I did this.

Know that what your feeling is normal, and while exercise is great you may need to find something that makes happy!!

I too am sorry for not responding, there are so many posts they sometimes gets missed. consider that your deleting your access to this forum as perhaps being part of the anger you are feeling?

So, I am a pretty stoic person. I work in a mans career world and do not go all hormonal on people...lol. Those first months post op I felt like an adolescent girl....lol. My moods were up and down... I felt lonely, I felt mad, I felt... like I missed my food.

ALOT of it is hormonal. The body releases estrogen as the fat melts away. I feel that exercise, and doing relazing things like meditating (or whatever your thing is) really helps. The men were wise to not eat french fries in front of me until I got passed that stage or someone might have lost a finger. :)

It DOES pass, and if it doesn't; perhaps consider counseling? It could also be that you have been suppressing rage with food... and now the issues you need to deal with might be ready to come to the surface? This is speculation on my part of course, and I do believe the hormonal changes are really a trigger to whatever is going on.

Good luck with your journey - it really is worth it!

I'm glad you asked as I have been feeling some similar things. Crazy hormones when PMSing :( I never saw your original post. Sorry. Is there another support forum out there? I'll have to hunt around.

Just saw this, or I would've answered when posted originally

I had the same problem. I was a complete train wreck, and angry as hell at everyone for no particular reason. I couldn't binge eat or smoke (cigarettes) my feelings away anymore. I was either in a homicidal mood or crying all the time.

I found the best way to deal with myself in these moods was to exercise. I felt much better after running or doing my time on the elliptical machine.

Fortunately these mood swings are not a forever thing and do pass

Good luck!!!

I leave the house. Go shopping for a couple of hours, think about why I'm angry, and come home feeling much better.

I got off birth control SO LONG ago all I remember now is the horrible, acne that I got all over my chest for about three months while I lived in a warm beach community... turtlenecks when everyone is in a swimsuit. Oh and I could barely walk because my boobs hurt so bad.

My post-op hormonal freak out was libido related for me. I don't recall much anger, which doesn't help you - sorry... What I totally understand is food-doping! Just knowing I was going to get something I wanted to eat produced a physical reaction - I could totally feel myself calming down from whatever emotional stress I was feeling. Now if I go to sweets it just makes me feel icky.

I think I get the blahs more than anger. When I feel blah, I like to turn on some music that makes me happy and makes me want to dance and just dance around the house. Sounds silly but I have fun for a bit and can sometimes get myself out of a funk.

Hope you get a handle on it soon!

No rage here, life is good for me. Find a hobby, go to the movies or go shopping. Better yet, go volunteer somewhere....when you see others who are less fortunate it will put your rage into perspective.

Here's what worked for me:

Fill the bathtub with good smelling bubbles and the hottest Water you can stand. Bring a book and a 'personal massaging' device into the tub with you. I do this on nights I can't exercise. I come out of that tub 45 minutes later feeling like a new woman without a care in the world.

You got the right idea girlfriend!! You know back in the old days, they would take women who were out of control to sanitoriums and administer the same kind of therapy. It worked wonders then, and it works wonders now. ;)

I'm just going to say normally I am a sarcastic b***h, but the other day I saw a stupid Hallmark commercial and cried. Like with actual liquid coming out of my eye. WTF.

Hormones from my fat? Really ???? Ima go from being a fluffy mofo to a damn alcoholic if this continues....

Not really. Dont flip.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
