Diarrhea after fills???

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I just had my first fill Monday. Since then, I have been having diarrhea and stomach cramps immediately after eating! Has anyone else had this problem? Am I doing something wrong, or is this what life is going to be like from now on?

Thanks for your help!

Cassandra

I have never had diarrhea with me fills. Maybe you have something going around. Hopefully some others will chime in but I know 6 people personally with the band and none of us have experienced that. I really bet you've picked up a virus or something. Sometimes I have also heard others say if your on liquids for an extended time like maybe after a fill that liquids in liquids out but I only have to be on them for one day after a fill so I guess I'm not much help. Hope your feeling better soon.

It may be something totally unrealted to the banding. Think about WHAT you are eating, rather than the band. You may find the culprit is something like being lactose intolerant or IBS. (Irritable Bowl Syndrome)

This has happened to me once but now I look back, I believe its unrelated to my band, in so much that its often what means my period is about to start. I've never been a PMT sufferer and havent had painful periods since before I had babies, but nowadays, I'm a hormonal disaster area.

So it could jsut have been a coincidence.

I had my band replaced last Thursday and I also had diarrhea. With my previous band (which I had for 3 years) it never happened at all. I was feeling really bummy all week so I'm guessing mine was a bug.

straight after my op i had alot of nausea and diahhrea it settled down after taking somac (acid blocker) i believe its because of my gallbladder removal and my body regulating the bile....so now every time i have a fill my body reacts with nausea and diahrrea it takes about a week to settle down after using somac.

Hi Cassandra,

I'm having the EXACT same problem. I had my surgery Sept 5th, and since I've 'healed' from the surgery I've been having really bad diarrhea every time I eat, to the point that I can't go too far from the bathroom. (I eat, then it's like within an hour I'm in the bathroom.) It's been like this for about 12 days now. I started eating solid food in small portions again 2 weeks ago, so I'm thinking it has to do with the solid food? I'm actually looking forward to getting filled so maybe I can not go to the bathroom as much?? Any advice would be helpful for me too.

And wow- congrats on your weight loss, I've only lost 20 lbs so far, but I'm still happy with what is going on. 20 lbs is 20 lbs!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
