Time To Check Out My Hospital's Er!

My two yorkies were seriously emotionally scared by my unexpected absence after my complication. They stuck to me like clue and if I head for the door they come unclued! Doggies can make one feel so loved.

What do you call a happy lassie?

A jolly collie!!

Ya'll are too funny!! Liz, so glad you feeling a bit better and you are home. My 2 Great Danes knew I was feeling better today, because they always want to rest their head on my belly, which has been a no-no for awhile now, until today...big ol' babies!

What did the ghost say to the bee? Boo Bee!!

Gad we are all sick comedians! I actually almost went into comedy...but that's a long sad story for later...

Liz I'm so glad the meds are helping. :) A little progress today, more tomorrow, rinse and repeat please!

The chichu...how do you spell that dog name? Anyhoo, that cracked me up. When I was home after surgery my dog (coton de'tulear) my cats (3) and the nanny's chichuwawawawa all would snuggle up with me in bed, all day long. They were the only beings who were happy with my illness LOL And that sweet little wawawawa (Monty) was the best company. He'd snuggle under the covers and just cuddle me. He still does when we dog sit :) I now am thinking of getting one for DH (I am a self professed non dog lover...despite the fact that our dog thinks I"m his mom). Don't tell I'm softening to them LOL My cats will chew off a toe or something!

We went to a movie tonight. Lincoln. Great movie...don't want to give it away, but it ended badly.

BA dum dum

All of your jokes were starting to put ME in a funk. Until I read Liz's muffin joke. Not sure why, but it was really funny. I actually lol'd. I'll have to be sure to retell it to my daughters. Although I'm sure they would actually like all the jokes in this thread.

I hope the new year starts out great for you Liz and things take a sudden and drastic turn for the better! We're thinking about you every day.

My turn. What do a mole and an eagle have in common? They both live underground. Except the eagle.

Sorry if this brought the funk back!

Alright so today I haven't vomited, last night I finally took a shower (my lord did it suck the life out of me), and I weighed myself today. I'm down 25 lbs.

I can't tell I've lost anything until I look down and see....my depressingly disappearing boobs.

Every time I've lost weight before the girls were last to go.

So with the passing of 2012, I will bid adieu to my once bubbly bust and try to wrap my brain around the fact that even with TPN and all that crap, I've lost 25 lbs since 11-19.

:)

Hi, Liz, just read all the posts. Just wanted to say hi and say I just had my sleeve on 12/27. I am a glass half empty kind of person, but I am grateful for what is left in the glass! That said, I am always waiting for something to go wrong so that if it doesn't, I can be really happy about it. I was so sorry about what you went through. You made a new family of the hospital staff, I'm sure, as well as everyone on this forum. I hope you start feeling better real soon and have a really happy new year.

Liz...what's the latest news? Are you still on TPN or are you able to have oral nutrition yet?

Hope you are well on the road to recovery.

It's my birthday! I made it to 26, and the morning of my emergency surgery and even the day after they weren't sure that would happen. I've been home over a week and while I went through some rough morphine withdrawals and thrush, I'm doing ok. Came home on full liquids and tonight (I keep weird shifts with my fiancé) I had some mostly puréed chicken salad. Or life cycle salad since I added an egg to up the Protein :) I had 2oz and while it feels totally different it isn't making me sick and I have more energy right now than I have since the day before my first surgery. Not that I'm running a marathon or even walking the block quickly but I can shower by myself, and make my own meals.

I will say I almost went to the ER a few days ago for HORRIBLE pain in my drain site. I called my surgeon and while I was laying down with an ice pack he called back. I felt much better, stood up to read him my intake journal, and realized I was soaking wet. I though my ice pack burst. It was my drain, the pain I had was a softball size mass of Fluid that had collected internally but managed to find my old drain tract and started making its way out. Surgeon said this is good. Now if it stops draining and my fever doesn't go down I need to call him but as long as there's some discharge my fever stays gone. It stopped a coule hours last night and my fever spiked to 102.5. Placed a warm compress and no problem sense. It's gross, but part of the process.

I have my first follow up on Tuesday. (I was in the hospital before I even made my first post-op appointment.)

Thank you EVERYONE for EVERY thought and prayer. It's so hard to explain how much that kept me going. Even at my worst, I read. I couldn't respond but I promise I read, I even teared up early on (when the NG had taken my voice away) that was fun to try and mime ;)

Hope everyone's new year was fabulous and is still great. I've never been so grateful for a birthday. And if you wanna share your "staple" soft/mushy recipes I'd much appreciate it :)

Liz, so glad your getting better! My fav mushy meals were:

Canned chicken breast chicken marinated in Italian dressing

Egg salad with light mayo, mustard, and dill seasoning

Taco Soup (I posted the recipe on this site)

Canned chicken breast chicken with pesto, goat cheese, and sundried tomatoes

I had the lactose issue until about week 6 and lived off the first two until then.

Still praying for ya girl! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Julie

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
