My doctor said he use to do it but stopped putting his patients through a pre op diet because they were going to not be eating for a while after and he didn't see any difference surgery wise

I think it is surgeon preference! It has a lot to do with how flat your surgeon is comfortable having your liver during surgery. The flatter it is the easier good visualation is. However some surgeons do not find it to be a problem.

Some times I think its just because the size of that person, I lucked out, my Doc doesn't believe in it and he just asks you do what you can for a few or so weeks before the surgery to lose what you can and said it may help, also adding not to gain to much over a few pd.s or there would be consequence for it.

Makes sense just confusing when you listen to people at a support group from three different hospitals

Yes!!! This is my night before surgery and I lost my instructions on what to eat before surgery. My doc said something like eat only liquids, Soups etc after 9am day before surgery? I thought he said I could have Breakfast bed 9am but wasn't sure???? Not I been drinking some protien and Driking Water. Does anyone know what they were told?

My doctor requires a two week liquid diet. My instructions for the day before surgery are the same no eating or drinking after 12 the night before. Hope this helps.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
