I was sleeved Nov 14 and I'm feeling wonderful. I'm healing really good my eating is fine and I feel almost back to my normal self. I want to get back in the gym though not doing anything extreme like weight lifting. Things like walking on the treadmill, the elliptical, getting on the bike, maybe some light arm and leg stuff. How long should I wait? I'm just so antsy. I've lost 17 pounds since surgery and im ready to tone everything now.

I would guess sometime soon you have a check in appointment with your doctor. Please discuss this with him or her first. All these surgeons seem to be different so it's best to follow their guidelines. I'm glad you're feeling so strong and healthy. That is definitely a good sign. Also it's a good sign that you WANT to get moving and toned. Just check in and make sure you do the right thing to keep your recovery on the right track. Congratulations! :D

Most surgeons want their patients to stick to walking for the first few weeks. Mine said I could resume cycling and the elliptical at 4 weeks but no weight lifting (nothing heavier than a gallon of milk) for 6 weeks.

I was walking soon after surgery but I didn't get serious about walking until about 3 weeks after surgery. Around 3 weeks I started setting goals like walking a minimum of 2 miles, 3 days a week. Now I'm jogging and I'm also 8 weeks post op. This week I'm gonna lift weights. I've always loved working out. I only workout 3 days a week but next year 2013 I plan to up it to 4 times per week so that I can have 3 cardio days and 1 heavy lift day. My advice is to listen to your body. Good Luck

Mine is restricted to no more than 25 pounds the first 6 weeks. Not that lifting heavy things has ever been something I aspired to. :D

I was sleeved 11/14 also. Mentally I'm ready to go back to the gym, physically I'm not. I consume less than 8 oz of Fluid daily. It's a struggle...I'm out of energy. Dr told me 15-30 min daily walking & wait til 1st appt to discuss further exercise & diet options. However, I say do what you feel with CAUTION!

LionHeart, make sure your doc knows you're taking in so little.... Post op I was very dehydrated and landed in the ICU with blood clots in my legs and lungs. If only I could do it over....... I would have spent my days holding a glass of water!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
