What Has To Be Paid Upfront?

Recommended Posts

So i got the info today about my approval for surgery but never got to talk to my surgeons office today. So does anyone know what you have to pay upfront?

My insurance says my OOP exspense is 15% of plan allowance. Does that mean i have to pay all before surgery???

Did anyone get to pay theirs in payments?

Help!!

Way too many questions right now

Krysti

It varies from Dr to Dr, and from plan to plan. I already met my deductible this year, and my OOP max is $ 3000.00, of which I already met $1500.00. My Surgeon fees were $ 185.00 ( 10 % co insurance after my ded was met). The hospital I am having it at took a $ 100.00 deposit, and will bill me the rest. They don't want to take anything more because the actual fees can vary...surgery may take longer, or not as long, etc. But for me the most I could HAVE to pay is the rest of the OOP ($ 1500.00 )..but it wont be that much.

If you know what hospital you're having it at, you can call once they get all your papers from your surgeon. Most will take payments once they get the letter of approval from insurance as well. They know the bulk will be paid, and if the hospital is in network, most will have an adjustment for the amount charged as well.

Hope that helps..it looks like rambling now that I look at it.

I have a 2k max out of pocket and I paid that upfront. The Dr. offered me 0% interest financing, but I wanted the airline miles from my credit card :D

I'd ask them about their financing plan. They started telling me and I just said no because I was just going to pay it all as needed. I paid my labs and EGD day of and I paid my surgery day of. Every single part of the process you pay day of which helped me out a lot.

If I missed anything or you want to know any specifics fire away! I will help you with any questions you have regarding them!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
