Wow! Congratulations! Very impressive! I was sleeved on Nov. 14th and have been doing fairly well overall. Had severe nausea the first day or so but stopped pain killers 3 days post-op and no real pain except for the constant diarrhea and more tired than usual. Does it every get better? I am on full liquids for at least another week. So wish I could eat pureed foods now!

Your doing great! Things have gotten better for me, everyone is different on how long it takes to feel okay. The first few days were bad for me too and I doubted I would ever feel okay again. I've gotten more and more energy as the days have gone by. I'm on full liquids too until Tuesday. Can't wait for purée! I think that will be a big thing in making us feel totally 'normal' also. Hugs!!

I had real bad diarrhoea also but am on day 15 now and it's all cleared up. My doctor recommended taking liquid codeine twice a day for a few days as this helps to settle swelling and bind poo's. it was a life saver for me. Hope this helps. Xxx

I am also on full liquids too. My follow up with my surgeon is Monday. Hopefully, I will get the blessing to start soft foods. But anything food I see on TV or smell looks goooood. Even ketchup lol.

I had my revision surgery on 11-14-2012 after surgery they told me the band removal went fine and they were able to repair a hiatal hernia , that was a surprise to them ( and me ) and sleeve me in one procedure. I was SO relieved to have had it done in once procedure. The day after surgery I started throwing up Water and unable to keep it down . After a couple more tried they ordered an EGD for me . They told me if the scope went through easily then and showed no obstructions I should be fine and not need another surgery , but if it did not I could have excess scar tissue from the band and I could need another surgery . WHAT !! Yikes . So they did it and it showed no obstruction some swelling around the band area ( where the band was ) they told me to take liquids slow . For several days I was still throwing up just Water, in fact it freaked me out because it looked like I was throwing up some blood as well. Finally around day 3 or so the water was staying down . So finally I was able to go home today . NOT an easy process that's for sure , but I am glad its over. The doc told me to progress my liquids slowly , as long as I was keeping liquids down I was fine , the minute i started if i did throwing up liquids I needed to come back . But to just take it slow .

Now 10 days out and I hae had a few instances of throwing up since i got home. But I just back track and go on Clear Liquids again and It gets better. Since I was unable to eat prior to surgery due to my band i sometimes wonder if I will ever be able to eat solids again , but this HAS to be better than the band and the pain and issues i had with them .

refried Beans with melted cheese whiz ( the kind in the jar ) with quacamole, and salsa. YUMMY as bad as it sounds its good !

Cottage cheese with spagettie sauce and melted mozerella, its a crust less lasaungna ...

Same thing with pizza sauce , melted cheese, crustless pizza.< /p>

Mashed potatoes, i lived on them .

that's what i can think of off the top of my head .. here are some more http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/57261-puree-stage-recipeideas/

Hey!! My loss has stalled for now, but I'm feeling more energetic this week. Maybe you should try to up your Protein a little bit. I would think at this point most of your fatigue would be gone. I hope you get some energy soon! Ooh, and thank you for the recipe ideas.

Glad to hear everyone doing awesome. I am having difficulty drinking all of my Water and Protein. I have the ok from my surgeon to eat food, but since I spent the day vomiting I went back to liquids. My left incision pain has increased, it got infected, it's next to my belly button, so I'm taking antibiotics.

Yes...soooo tired. After work, I'm running to my bed and I'm OUT!!! I'm drinking about 90grams of Protein and everything I eat makes me have nausea so I'm just sticking to shakes...booooo lol. I went to the gym and walked for 60min and actually had some increased energy. I'll be doing that 4-5 times a week now

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
