Dr. Ortiz (Or, Dr. Jesús Elías Ortiz Gómez)?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had their surgery performed by Dr. Ortiz (he works with Dr. Alejandro Lopez)? I know I have read at least one post from someone who had Dr. Ortiz assist Dr. Lopez with their surgery, but I don't think I've seen any posts from people who've had Dr. Ortiz as the lead surgeon. Dr. Lopez is my first choice, but I don't yet know if he will be in TJ on the day I'm having my surgery (since he splits his time between TJ and PV), so I may have to go with Dr. Ortiz.

If anyone has had any experience with him, could you share your thoughts on how it went?

Dr Jesus Ortiz that you are speaking of is a newer surgeon. He was trained by Dr Lopez and his wife. I believe Ronda said that Dr Lopez assists in his surgeries. He only does the sleeve also, from what I remember.

Good luck in your decision:)

Well he seems to be a very new surgeon with not many surgeries under his belt. For peace of mind I would go with Dr Garcia: he has many years experience and has completed thousands of successful surgeries.

Talked to Ronda last night. He completed his 1,000 surgery and he is assisted by Dr. Lopez. Furthermore, talked to a close friend that is an ex-pat in Mexico. All surgeons have to practice public medicine for several years before they are permitted to be private surgeons like VSG doctors. On top of that, you must have a 98% or higher success rate to stay in private practice. Sold me.... Icon23, how was you experience?!

My experience was great--I would highly recommend Dr. Ortiz. Dr. Lopez actually was not there when I had my surgery (he was in PV that week), so even if Dr. Lopez does not assist, I still trust Dr. Ortiz to be very competent. He checked in with me everyday starting the day of surgery (before and after) through my last night at the hotel (to remove the drain), so there were lots of opportunities to ask questions. I've also heard that Dr. Ortiz speaks better English than Dr. Lopez, so there's that.

I'm scheduled for surgery on April 26th with Dr. Lopez and Dr. Ortiz in TJ. I'm going though ALM with Rhonda as my coordinator =) I'm pretty confident in my choice for Dr.Lopez and happy to hear good stuff on Dr. Ortiz as well.

I had Dr. Ortiz as the assistant surgeon to Dr. Lopez. Dr. Ortiz was Awesome!! He came into my room pre-surgery talked to me, told me what was going to happen. Very, very nice man. He also checked on me after surgery. He was very professional and very kind. When I was at the Hotel he came and removed my drain. Explained everything he was doing, explained how things would be for me in the next few months, what to eat, how much weight I should use. I would recommend him 100%!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
