I was sleeved on 10/9 doing good just broke a stall I had for a week and a half down 32 pounds and feeling great hitting the gym for and hour and half and just wanting this weight to come off asap but I know I have to be patient and let the sleeve do its magic hardest struggle would be anxiety attacks I get sometimes when I wish I could just eat normal again but I hope they pass soon.

I was sleeved on Oct 30th' date=' 1 week ago. I was taking over 27 prescribed medications and two weeks before surgery the doctor took me off ALL meds. Since Oct 30th pm, I have been suffering from hot flashes something BAD! In the hospital the nurses put ice packs on my feet and behind my neck. I sleep with a fan and windows open. Last night all I could think of was wanting to go to the snow taking off my clothes to cool down! I live in California where it has been in the 80's! Yes, one of the meds was for hot flashes. All the Protein shakes I purchased prior and loved, now I can not stand the taste. Even Water tastes weird, yes, bottled! I am having a hard time with my Vitamins can not take the nasty taste and this morning wanted to vomit after taking my Vitamin pill. That really hurt!

But, I am hoping that this is ALL temp. Anyone have these problems and if so how long did it last?

Another thing is I see that everyone's diet plan is different. I was told I would have to be on full liquids for 4 weeks, then pureed for one week, soft foods for 1 week.

I started emailing and talking to someone that I met through this website and even though she has not had the surgery is losing weight all on her own but still wants to have the surgery in January. I told her about my Protein problem so she told me to get Fage 0% yogurt and blend it with frozen strawberries and splenda…wow frozen yogurt! It will probably be the only way I get protein in me until my tastebuds come back. I have to let it sit so it is not as cold going down to my stomach.

Also, how about seedless watermelon? Is that a no no?[/quote']

I lived off of seedless watermelon my first two weeks, if it wasn't for that I'm site I would have gotten dehydrated. My nut told me don't swallow the watermelon, so I chewed it up to get all the juice.

I was sleeved 10/18 and lost 10 on the two week liquid prediet and 15 more since. I will lose a couple then stall a few days and then lose a few more. Everyone should be very careful not to compare themselves to others though.... there are so many variables involved. I lost about 40 pounds before I started my official prediet, so I know my initial sleeve weight loss might be a little slower than some others. Either way though, I'm down 65 lbs and I can't tell you how fantastic that feels!

NSV a couple weeks ago when for the first time in many years I didn't have to ask for a seat belt extender on the airplane!

So proud of all of you fellow Octosleevers!

I was sleeved yesterday. how long does your belly feel sore? Did you have trouble getting your liquids in the first few pre/ op days?

The first few days, everything was a hassle for me. It took me at least 5 days before I wanted to do more than just drink tea and flavored Water. I'd say I was really sore for about a week, maybe a little longer. Now, two weeks and some change out, I don't hurt so much but I can still feel where the drain was and where the internal stiching is.

Congrats on the new sleeve. I was sore for about 4 days and then good from there. The Water intake was hard but I made it a goal to drink 3 16.9oz Water bottles a day by sipping all day long. You can add crystal light or Torani Syrup as they help make the water not feel so thick and heavy. I'm going on week 4 and its so much easier now. This week especially feels 'normal' for me.

I had my surgery October 8th and it was rough at first. I stayed nauseated for a while and couldnt even hold down liquid lortab for the pain. Thank God my doctor was so good to me and let the nurses give me IV pain meds.

I'm much better now. I still get nauseated sometimes, but it's not as bad. I'm down 26 pounds! It feels so good!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
