My doc just told me today that at this point (sleeved 10-15), every 3-4 days is normal since we're taking in so little food.< /p>

I had my surgery on October 17 in Basel Switzerland. Contrary to most people in this forum nobody asked me for a pre-op diet. So I went in with my highest weight ever and I lost 42 pounds in 4 weeks. There were a few days where the weight loss has stalled but now it's continuing. Surprisingly I was told that I can eat solid foods one week after surgery and just a few days ago I was told I can go to full fruits and uncooked vegetables as well. Clearly the different doctors have very different opinion of how to change the eating habits steering this recovery phase. I am not very comfortable eating solid food and if I just eat a little bit too much I get sick to the point where I will throw up or make myself throw up to get relief. liquids and Puree foods are fine and I can eat them well. I struggle a bit drinking enough in between food and need to really remind myself to drink enough. I am happy with my decision to get a sleeve but there seems to be a long road ahead to "feel" normal again.

I drink a Protein Shake that I like. It is from a company called SPONSOR and the product is called whey. I live in Switzerland and maybe this can also be bought in other countries. There is no bad taste to it and there are several flavors.

Sleeved the same day, im down 14 lbs be proud girl of your 35lbs!

I'm new to this site and just had my surgery on 10/25. The nausea was horrible at first and I couldn't keep any liquids in, so I ended up staying in the hospital a bit longer. My Phase I was Clear Liquids for one week. Phase 2 was full liquids for one week. Now, I'm supposed to be doing Phase 3, which is pureed foods, but it's been challenging. Since surgery things that I perceive as sweet make me extremely nauseous, so I have been avoiding them- witht he exception of diluted Diet/Light juices. Yogurt and puddings (sugar-free, fat-free) still make me ill, as do the recommended eggs. So, I'm trying cottage cheese, fat-free vegetarian refried Beans, and applesauce. I'm a vegetarian but compromised with my surgeon and agreed to add fish/seafood until I am taking enough Protein in on my own.

So far I am down 35+ pounds since the day of surgery- according to my scale. I don't have another follow-up with my surgeon until the end of November, so I will have to wait to see what that scale says. It's a stressful thing not seeing the number go down though. I mean, with as little as I'm taking in but as much as I am doing, it just feels like I'm lagging behind others. {I'm not allowed to return to my exercise routine until after my one month follow-up, so all I'm doing is walking every day, as much as I can.} Does anyone else get frustrated?

The plus side is I'm feeling better every day. I'm off most of my medications save for Topamax and Omeprazole. The hunger isn't there, at all. I'm forcing myself to eat and drink because I know I have to, but the desire is gone- thank goodness!

I hope everyone else is doing well!

Today marks my one month surgiversary! I had the sleeve done with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali on Oct. 13, 2012. Stats are below:)

Stats:

Day of surgery: 238.8 (5'3" tall)

One month post-op: 215.8 and loss of 5 1/4 inches ... Total of 23 lbs.

I'm not the fastest loser, but I haven't hit a stall yet and haven't started back at the gym yet. My goal is to start back this week. Regardless, I'm thrilled with the changes! I would post pics, but I'm not that ballsy yet...haha. Congrats to everyone!

That is exactly how I feel. If I just overeat a little then the air is trapped and I feel very uncomfortable.

I'm just home from my PCP appointment. Today I'm at exactly 3 weeks post-op and my total weight loss (w/ clothes & shoes on) is 40lbs from surgery day. Good news, I think?

Bad news is I'm not getting enough Protein in. Nausea is still an issue so the doctor prescribed Zofran. Protein shakes make me ill so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them! (Still in the puréed phase for one more week.)

I hope everyone is doing well!

I had the same problem and spent post op week 3 in the hospital. Less than 24 hours after I stopped eating/drinking anything dairy I was 100% no maybe 110% better. You may want to try that. I even tried eAting a ricotta bake last night and was nauseas all night. Sleevers often have lactose intolerance after surgery from what I hear. Good luck!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
