I was the 23rd. I agree it's amazing how much energy I have only on the shakes. I used to be exhausted driving home from work and now wide awake. No afternoon crash. I'm thinking all the carbs from before must have really affected me. Hope it lasts!

I'm 6 months post op and I still feel great. It's amazing how much all the carbs were bringing me down. Keeping your blood sugar and insulin levels on an even keel makes a huge difference. Plus, once you start exercising and get in better shape you'll feel even better.

I don't think its the lack of carbs thats making us have more energy. I think its because we are eating so much less fat and calories. I mean think about it. Carbs are what athletes use for energy. Fatty foods make people sleepy. Take away the fat = more energy.

I don't get ravishingly hungry, but notice I need to eat some Protein every 3 hours. If I don't, sometimes I will start to get a little weak and feel empty.i started to notice this change at around 3 months out. I typically eat a small protein based meal of about 125 calories every 3 hours to keep my mood and energy stabile and my metabolism firing on all cylinders.

Well, when I said carbs, what I should have said was starches. They cause a spike in blood sugar, and the resulting increase in insulin in the blood causes the eventual crash. Doing this over and over again reduces energy levels, not to mention leads to insulin resistance.

Fat, on the other hand, is a building block and does not decrease energy. Now a lot of fatty foods are also high in unhealthy starches (breading on fried foods is a high glycemic starch) and that will lower your energy levels as mentioned above. But brisket is high in fat but contains no carbs, and it does not reduce energy. It's high in Protein and the dietary is used by your body.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
