Vsg Food Help

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, well the Nut at my hospital is not too familiar with VSG and they just started doing the sleeve due to new doctors, she is really good but I just dont feel that she can guide me. She gave me a lot of printed information from online and also kept calling it the gastric instead of the sleeve. Any information will help, I want to know how my weeks should go and what goes on step by step with each new week, with fluids and meals.

Every doctor is different. I am not fond of my NUT but she is in with my doctor who i love so i am going to trust her for now. I have a 2 week diet and post-op I do Clear Liquids for 4 days, than full liquids for 2 weeks, soft food for a week than onto food. My NUT just printed everything out for me too. I'm suppose to go back a month after surgery but I. Think I'm going to try and find a new NUT. Good Luck!!!

I have seen this and not quite understanding the difference between clear liquids and full liquids. I'm only just beginning my journey but am trying to do as much reading as I can so I know what to expect. Also I have seen a couple times in the past few days that after surgery we can't drink thru a straw, do you know why? Thanks in advance for your help :}

Mini,

Ive heard the straw thing is because of the air you take in sucking through the straw compared to sipping. Clear liquids are things u can "see" thru. Broths, Jello, some juices or drink mixes,water, teas. Full liquids are things like shakes, pudding, yogurt(no fruit bits), cream or strained Soups, ect.

rdoactv, that's what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure my thinking was correct. I'm going to be in big trouble with the not using the straw thing. I have sever arthritis and have found using the big plastic tumblers with the screw on tops are easiest for me to hang onto without spilling, they all have straws :{. will have to work on finding a new cup. Thanks again for your help :}

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

        That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

        I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

        Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
