Pureed Food, What A Change!

Recommended Posts

After being on a full liquid diet for almost 3 weeks I tried some roast beef hash today for lunch. I ate a little over 3 oz worth and I feel super full... Thanksgiving day full! This is fantastic. For the first time in my life I am not controlled by hunger. I don't feel it every waking minute of every day. I don't sit at my desk and wait for lunch time. I don't have to eat lunch then 45 minutes later wonder what I am going to do for dinner. I feel like such a huge weight has been lifted off my life that I just had to share it!

I admit I am cheating a little bit. I'm not supposed to be on pureed foods until Wednesday. My NUT is very strict with liquids 2 days after operation. 3 weeks full liquids from that. 3 weeks pureed. and 2 weeks soft foods. I'm not sure why such a long time until normal foods. But I haven't had any luck getting her to return my calls lately.

I feel great! :D I can't believe I waited this long to change my life like this!

I'm going to cut back to 2 oz because 3 was to much... but yeah, isn't that crazy?? I told my wife if everyone had a stomach like ours, there would be more than enough food in the world!

Wow that's a long time on liquids! I had 1 week before and 2 weeks after on liquid. 2 weeks puree and 2 weeks smushy.

I did cheat also! My hubby was very grumpy but it was worth it!

I did a puree with (noodle/meat/veggie/cream of mushroom) with milk and I felt like I was revived into life (not feeling starving) I didnt care I cheated, I felt great. not sure how much I ate but it was a spoon full of food then pureed.

Good luck with your journey!

I am so ready for mushy foods. I end my liquids on Thur. and can start on mushy foods after that... 4 weeks of mushy foods! Can't wait to get those 4 weeks over. Looks like it will be just in time for Thanksgiving. Actually it will be on Thanksgiving day that I can start the real foods.... I will be giving thanks for that.

Holly, take care and stay safe with Hurricane Sandy... I have been through several hurricanes, they can be unpredictable.

Thanks, Jill! We lost power for only 24 hours, mist of my town is still without! I was supposed to return to work Monday but school's been closed since then. I am so relieved to NOT be at work on Halloween -candy, cupcakes and treats streaming into main office all day for classroom parties. I had my egg, poached on a Coleman cooking stove-heaven! dinner wasn't as successful, today's another day! One day at a time, for sure!

I'm on puree (week 4 ost-op), and my egg is supposed to be poached or soft boiled. I over cooked it the first time by melting some low fat cheese over poached egg-the well cooked yolk did not agree with my stomach. I tried again, poaching for less time so 30 seconds in microwave to melt cheese wouldn't over cook yolk. It was perfect and didn't bother my stomach at all. The scrambled texture is probably too rough on healing tummy, especially at less than a month post-op.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
