Has anyone tried salad yet? I am 4 days into my "solid" food and am craving a salad. :hungry: Has anyone tried a salad, and if so how did it go? I have been eating protien & steamed veggies, but just want some fresh lettuce.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jill

I've eaten a salad and my dietician said it was fine as long as you chew it up especially well. I didn't have any problems with it and it tasted wonderful because I was craving it about 3 days into my solid foods. Good luck!

I have been fine with lettuce so far. I had a fill on Monday and I feel some restiction. I can still eat about a cup or so at a time, but I feel full for longer periods. Everyone is doing awesome! Don't worry about stalling a few weeks out. I was stuck for 2 weeks and now with my fill I've already lost 3 pounds. Keep up the good work!

JDru, how much of a fill did you get?? Were you able to eat the tacos and stuff since you had the fill?? Just curious, since I won't be able to get a fill until Jan. and I am looking for something to hold onto!!

Thanks,

Karen

I actually haven't had any tacos yet, but I did have a burrito for lunch the other day (pre-fill). My fill was 1.2 cc in a 4 cc band. Today was my first day back on solid food and I was able to eat a half of a turkey wrap (wrap was more like a tortilla) and a salad with no problems. I still have to remind myself to eat more slowly and take smaller bites. I've heard that some fills can take a week or two to actually start working...maybe that's my problem?? I'm definitely eating less than I was last week and I'm not as hungry. Even before my fill I could eat anything...bread, dried fruit, any kind of meat. We'll see what happens...

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well!

My first fill is 1/11 too.. I can't wait!

Hi all,

Well, today is my 4 week anniversary, and the first week I haven't lost anything. I am still at an 18 pound loss. AND I CAN EAT ANYTHING, INCLUDING SALAD!! I am trying so hard not to freak out, since now that I know this, I am being tempted by everything and starting to give in, too. :phanvan So, JDru and Jill, I hear you!! Jill, the salad went down fine, but so did the tacos and chips and salsa.... I need to stay away from Mexican food!! I am leaving for a week's vacation next week, and I don't get my first fill until January. WAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! :faint:

Karen

OMG Karen...I have been sooolo hungry today! I wen t to lunch with friends and I tought I would only have half of my piece of chicken smothered in cheeese and balack olives.....I ate the wholw thing!!!! I also had part of the rice it came with..... left about half. Then I came home and felt sooooo hungry still I had a Protein Shake with half a banana and some peaenut butter in it! Later I fell Asleep....maybe I needed the calories since i am still fighting this MS stuff. at least that is my excuse and I am sticking to it! :faint:

PS--I just woke up fro, my long nap///my spelling is dreadful! :notagree

I also bought Benefiber and have put it into all of my drinks....it is helping and NO bloating!! I hope I feel well enough tomorrow to actually go for a long walk a round the lake. Other wise I guess I will just roam the Giant Whole Foods again for a couple of hours and walk that way....holding on to my little cart :omg:

I also told lots of people bout the surgery and somehow they think I should be skinny already!! Friends did notice today I had lost weight and I found to workout fluffy warm things to wear to walk around the lake...one was a large....no X and one was a medium!!!!!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I will not attempt to try any pants for a long time since I am soooo big at the bottom!

Jill, I did a small salad about 3 weeks post-banding and had no problem. I've been fortunate thus far that nothing has caused any problems. I did overeat one night and had some discomfort but that's been the extent. The dietician suggested keeping it small as it has little nutritional value. Don't fill up on lettuce and not get your protein!

I went back to work Monday (12/4) from my surgery 11/7. It's been so cold that I wore sweaters to work Monday and Tuesday. Today I just wore slacks and a sport shirt. Several people that didn't know I had surgery said it looked like I had lost a lot of weight and wanted to know how I was doing it. It was a real morale booster and gave me the strength to not eat the Reese's Cup that was left on my desk for something I did before I left for surgery. (Our company is BIG on giving food rewards. My manager knew I was diabetic so I usually got peanuts or some other non-sugar food but my supervisor at the time was new and either didn't know or, since she didn't like me, did it intentionally.) I did weigh myself at work 5 days before surgery and then again on Monday so I had a same-scale to same-scale reference and I'm down 16 pounds in 4 weeks. I'm thrilled with that! But more so that my clothes are getting very loose and people are noticing. And I have more mobility which is the prime reason that I did this. Add in that I haven't taken any of my diabetes medicine since a few days before surgery (although was given insulin in the hospital) and my blood sugars are right where they need to be, and this was definitely worth doing!!!!!

Tom, congrats on you success and for people at work noticing. Keep up the good work. The neighbor jsut came over tonight and told me my face looked thinner. YEAH! Every little compliment helps! It feels good, doesn't it?

GO TEAM!

Karen, I think I am doing better now that I have my fill. I have a 10cc band and he filled it to 5 cc. It was too tight so he took out 1cc and I am doing ok now. I definitely get full faster than I did before, so it's helping.

I don't have PB or feeling stuck or anything like that, but I know everybody is different.

I will admit .... as I type this right now, my stomach is growling. But I won't eat anything. I am trying really hard to be strong. I spent a lot of time and effort on this whole process, so I need to remind myself to be committed. But it can be so hard sometimes !

Take care, chica! We'll get through this together.

Thanks, Fitzgerald, I needed that!! And I understand the "microscope" thing.... it is hard to constantly have people ask you every day how much you have lost, and to know that they are watching what you eat. AACCCKKK! Do you have any problems now that you have a fill?? How much did you get? Is it slowing you down at all?? I feel like I don't have a band at all, yet I am afraid that getting it tight enough to affect my eating will also make it start giving me real problems, like blockage and PBs... What do you think now that you have a fill??

Thanks, Karen

Good for you, Fitzgerald!! Sounds like you have your head-hunger under control and are motivated to succeed. You will do great!! How much weight do you have to lose? It is so hopeful to hear that having a fill was a big help and not a problem maker. Congratulations!! :clap2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
