  1. Hey everyone! I've had a crzy summer and I haven't logged on to LBT in a long, long time. I was out of town for Dr. Hansen's last support roup meeting and I can't go tonight for July. Is anyone else going? How is everyone doing? Is it hot enough for you??
  2. Wow everyone is doing great!! I just wanted to stop by and say hello. Work has been really busy for me lately so I haven't logged on as much. mrdowntown...I don't know of any liquid or gel vitamins that taste good. I'm bad and I don't actually take a multi-vitamin. I know, I should. Can you guys believe it's June already??
  3. Good luck with your diet Wen! Your surgery will be here before you know it.
  4. I really liked Dr. Hansen...but I haven't seen him since November since the nurses do all the fills. How are you doing with everything randa? Rebecca congrats on your upcomin surgery! I bet you're really excited!! I remember feeling a mixture of feelings, but mostly I was excited. Let us know if you have any questions! :Banane43:
  5. Welceom kaylali!! I also had my surgery done by Dr. Hansen, but insurance covered it. There are quite a few people on the board (outside of Utah) who have been banded in Mexico. Just do a search for Mexico and you should find something. Good luck!!
  6. Hi Ruthie! My surgeon was Dr. Hansen with South Valley Surgical and I thought he was great! I've been very happy with my follow up treatment there. The nurses are the heart and soul of that office and really care about patients. One of the reasons I chose Dr. Hansen is his office offers support groups (including psychosocial support, nutrition and exercise). I made a list of all the bariatric offices in Salt Lake (not sure if your mom lives elsewhere) and which hospitals they are affiliated with. Hope this helps! South Valley Surgical (Alta View) Dr. Darrin Hansen, Dr. Layton Alldredge http://www.svsurgical.com/ 571-9511 Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians (St. Mark's) Dr. Rodrick McKinlay http://www.utahbariatrics.com/ 268-3800 Surgical Weight Loss Center of Utah (SL Regional) http://www.saltlakeregional.com/second/bariatrics/surgery.htm Dr. Christina Richards 866-602-8446 Dr. Hanafy Hanafy was in Utah last time I checked, but I think he's moved to Washington.
  7. Hi Di!! Welcome to our Utah thread. Feel free to ask lots of questions. I haven't been online too much because my sister was in town with my brand new nephew (he's just now 4 weeks old). How is everyone doing??
  8. You look awesome Julie!! You have accomplished so much in a year...keep up the good work!
  9. Bobbi don't be scared of real food! I remember I was a little timid at first, but I was SO ready to eat real, solid food. I think I had Mexican food for my first solid meal. I had NO restriction at first. It's taken me about 5 months to get proper restriction and I still haven't had a PB. If you are careful you should be fine. Just remember to chew A LOT and take small breaks in between bites. You can get a ticker at www.tickerfactory.com and this post will tell you how to get it in your signature. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/get-ticker-your-t16218.html
  10. Welcome to our thread Bobbi! Let us know if you have any questions.
  11. I hope to see you there Ashlee! Anyone else going?
  12. FYI: I found out the SV Surgical support group is actually on April 4 at 7 pm.
  13. Hi Jason! I'm sorry to hear about your struggles. Can you eat Beans? They have some Protein and get pretty mushy. I eat chili a lot. How about fish like tuna or salmon? You should be able to keep down solid protein...do you think you might be filled too tight? We have a thread for those banded in Ocotber. You should come and say hi! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/october-bandsters-t23737.html
  14. I have no trouble with popcorn. I usually eat it once a week or so. Some people do have problems with it...so just start out slowly to see how well you tolerate it.
  15. Ashlee: I think the next meeting is April 11...but I haven't gotten an e-mail from Vivienne about it yet. I'm going in for a fill on April 2 too! My appt is at 1:30. My March exercise challenge is just something I do with myself...but you're welcome to join me. I try to get in 15 thirty minute exercise sessions each month. Sometimes I go over, sometimes I don't quite make it. Karen: I'm glad your dad is doing better. It sounds like you and your family are under a lot of stress dealing with everything. I hope your mom's test turn out ok...Alzheimers is so difficult. Keep us updated! Becky: You crack me up with your Hannibal Lector/Dr. Muse reference!
